I went away this weekend to visit my parents for Mother's day. I am doing Atkins and was nervous about sticking to the plan. I can stick to my diet when I fix my own food and even when I'm at a restaurant (just order meat and veggies). But I get nervous if I have to eat someone else's food at their home. I called my mom before I left to let her know that I would only be eating meat, cheese, eggs and veggies. She said ok. But when I got there, they had bought soda, Doritos, crumb cake, pretzels, pancakes and my weakness - ice cream! My boyfriend was with me and even though he is not on a LC diet, he ate LC with me so it wouldn't be so tough. It was hard but we did it and I feel good that I didnt cheat. While my parents were eating ice cream, my boyfriend and I were eating mini- pizzas of LC bread (which I brought), pepperoni and cheese. I didnt lose any weight (because I didnt drink enough water) but I didnt gain any either. I feel good about this!

Congratulations to have so much strenght and resolve to stick through it. Holidays can be difficult for people. Looks like you went into it with a plan, and it paid off. Good work!

I also visited my mother's this weekend and found it hard to resist a lot of goodies. However I did eat a few rice krispy squares. Like you, I didn't gain or lose any pounds so far. So you are not alone :)

Well done Marcella,
you're dead right that the hardest thing is eating at someone else's when you generally don't have a choice. At least at restaurants you can have them run around after your every whim...after all you are paying ;)
Plus - go give your BF a big hug...not too many of us are lucky enough to get the kind of support he has given you...what a gem :)

Good Job Marcella :)
I totally agree with you. I've learned to bring an emergency meal with me. That way if there's nothing LC at whom ever's house I can just run outside to my van and get my own meal. I really don't care if anyone get's miffed. I'm not going backwards, only forwards.
P.S. Your boyfriend sounds like a keeper.
