Hi all, Im 34 yrs old and live in Liverpool UK
I have to admit to being a total newcomer to Low carb eating , I have ordered I think most of the books I could find online regarding Low carb
I just wanted to say that I plan to visit this site often and hope that I will learn more each time.
I have tried low fat diets and have had no success whatsoever , I would say that I am prob a Carb addict (eeek did i just admit to that ? )
So I know its not going to be easy but Im sure going to try
thanx for reading the post this is a cool site!!!

welcome jo and twilite. jo, you've got the right idea. read all you can. twilite, that's what you should do too. try "dr. atkins new diet revolution" or dr. eades "protein power plan". if you don't want to buy them, check them out at the library. it's really best to read up on this woe, so that you really understand it. also, get a good carb counter. i use corrine netzer's complete book of food counts.
visit this board often. you'll find really great support here. i look forward to hearing more from both of you.

Hi Jo - I too am new to low carbs - well nearly new - I tried Dr Atkins about 20 years ago. it was a huge success - but two husbands later and a few stone heavier I'm back to square one. I've been in ketosis for over a week and not lost an ounce. I feel great so I'm not giving up  I wish I knew what I'm doing wrong though - if there's a book been written I've bought it - I'm hoping to get inspiration from this forum.
I've been eating white fish, eggs, cheese, some meat mainly chicken and drinking water and coffee with cream. and the odd bottle of wine ....... could this be the culprit. whoops

hi damsel:wave:
maybe we could start a liverpool group there certainly seems to be enough of us
I'm not having much success I think it must be the hidden carbs
reading is the answer, at least when i'm readind i'm not thinking about food

Hi and well done both of you.
Induction is soooo important .. it tells you exactly how addicted you are to carbs. That is why it is important to be very strict during induction ... best way to get past the cravings ... not saying that they won't ever come back but it is much easer to get up and start skating again after that.
Take care.

Hi Damsel - thats just around the corner from me - where are you now
How come it takes so long to log on - does your machine need a biggger hard drive or more memory
I know what you mean about the totals you eat - since i activated fitday, I've improved - but one day when I thought I'd done realy well - once I'd totaled up I'd had 60 carbs  and only 600 cals - it just goes to show you have to make a note of what you eat its no good guessing
speak to you soon
