I just wanted to say how much this forum is helping me stay focused. I'm only into the first week of the induction phase and already have gathered recipes and so much useful information.
I read and read and read and I want to reply and I just sit here crying, cause I believe this time I am going to get rid
of the extra weight that has dragged me down and is so uncomfortable.

Just thank you for being here!!!!!

I agree with Lena!

I have learned SO much from this forum. Sometimes I think I may have traded my carb addiction for a low carb board addiction! LOL Everyone here is so helpful and quick to try and answer any question you may have and the support to be found here is amazing. I tip my hat to all the low carb mentors, moderators and administrators who keep this board going! Without all of you, this would be so much more difficult! Thanks, guys (and gals!)

:cheer:

Thank you Lisa, yes, without them we would be lost. The support helps, as does reading the menus from people just like me with a busy life, no time for exotic ingredients, just food we can afford and easily prepare. I know I'm going to do this I have to, my cholesterol was 349 two weeks ago so of course, I'm worried about. I am glad i found a support

Lena...

that cholesterol level is worrisome, but take note of the breakdown if you have it (LDL, HDL and triglycerides). Those 3 are a much better indication of your cardiac risk than your total cholesterol. There are some very good posts on the Cholesterol/Heart Disease forum that help explain cholesterol and it's numbers. You might want to check it out when you have time. I don't much go for exotic ingredients, but I love to cook so this WOE has been a fun challenge for me to low-carb some of my favorite recipes and create low carb meals that my whole family will enjoy. So far, I haven't run into much that they don't like and my husband started low carbing with me in January. So far he's lost 30 lbs and is now within 20 lbs of his goal...he's thrilled and we are now talking about pre-maintainance and maintainance levels for him. I've got a long ways to go yet, but I'll get there and so will you (with a little..well, maybe a lot...of help from our low carb friends here)! :D

Welcome aboard, if you would like to get to understand the faulty science that created the whole cholesterol scare then you should read this web page and then buy the book. In most cases cholesterol is not a problem, triglycerides !! now that is a different issue.

Yes, Old Salty (love that name) you are right. I have been reading and reading which is why I haven't been posting as much, I've been gathering information.
I know I will lower the cholesterol with medication but I want to get this weight off. I've also been looking to supplements (garlic, Vitamin C) of which I am a big supporter for to lower it.

Thank you for the reply!

You caught me just as I logged on!
That's very interesting, I'm writing a story with a character named Scrap
and he is referred to at one point as
a salty character!

Thank you for sharing.

TIme for a snack :)
