So - as I was drinking my am flax oil dose with sugarfree metamucil chaser I was reading the recommendations on the back of the canister. It stated if you take prescription meds orally you should take the metamucil 2 hrs before or after... Oops.
Anyone know why? Perhaps the extra fiber moves the medicine through too fast for proper absorption? And to think I have been doing this with my BC pills for 3 months.

hi there k-fire,
Psyllium inhibits absorption of medications, and some mineral supplements (esp. calcium) as well. It does this two ways .. first, the mucilage (soluble fiber) reacts with the medicine or mineral to make it less easily absorbed. Second, just as you suspect ... the INsoluble fiber speeds transit time out of the intestinal tract. Most of the resources I've read suggest one hour apart, not 2.
