I had a couple of "bloop" days.....didn't stay too focused on the diet, but Monday's here and I'm at the guns again. I didn't purchase the cookbook that goes with this diet. Just wondering if anyone has and if they recommend-----is it worth the cash?
I plan on incorporating some weight lifting and back to the treadmill.........used to be very active in running, but had some leg problems!!!
Looking forward to the slimming! :daze:

It's OK to have bloop days! As long as you get back to low-carbing, you're OK. I read your journal entry and liked the analogy very much. We are imperfect creatures in an imperfect world and there's no use in being unforgiving. I come from a very critical family and it's taken me years to shake that off. It's tough sometimes but I'm trying to be flexible. I'm going through a "tweaking" phase in my eating plan and it's frustrating, but hopefully I'll find the right balance of carbs/protein/fat/veggies soon!

About the cookbooks: I have the vegetarian one (since I'm a vegetarian) and I love it! It's got everything in there. There's hors d'oevres (sp?), dips, sauces, salad dressings, salads, entrees, side veggies (starchy and nonstarchy), but, alas, no desserts! :) A couple of people were complaining about that, but since my only "sweet" is an occasional fruit, I don't mind it so much. I've heard nice comments about the non-vegetarian cookbook too.

Of course, I guess you could point out that there's tons of low-carb recipes on the Internet, but that takes time to search them out. I really wanted an all-veggie cookbook I could thumb through for ideas. I'm glad I bought it!

I love the cookbook! Its a staple at my house. I have yet to make anything I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The meatloaf is divine, as is the Thai Shrimp Curry etc. etc. etc. Can't recommend it enough!

Me too! The cookbook is great! And as far as desserts are concerned, I'm glad there are none. Besides, as a Schwarzbeiner, I know that desserts are not part of the program. The only way to have regular desserts as a low-carber is to use a sweetener, and Dr. S. is adamantly against them (at least in her original book, I'm still waiting to see what she has changed in her new one).
