I'm 53 and have been taking 50 mg / day of DHEA for 4
years now.
But the things I keep coming across on the web, about it, are
so confusing.
Some say it works well, others say it doesn't work as well for
women as for men, others say not to use it.
Is what I'm seeing just part of the power struggle with the
health food stores on one side and the medical industry on
the other?

The side effects of excessive facial hair growth in women and
elevated blood pressure is enough to keep me away from it. If
you have no problems though why worry? Dawn

25 to 50 mg of dehydroepiandrosterone per day should not be
nearly enough to have one start worrying that she will look
like a candidate for the old East German Olympic Swim Team.
Lot's of women of 35+ take it to keep their sex-drive and to
avoid a "matronly" figure. It is not just for
athletic/youthful performance, either. I have clients whom I
suggested DHEA instead of progesterone cream for hot-flashes,
and the results appear very close on my small sample. In these
women, there was evidence that DHEA attenuated or eliminated
hot-flashes during menopausal years.
