Have you thought of exfoliating the area, thinning the skin
with one of those sandpaper like rough thingies people use for
feet? And working the area with lotion, so those creases where
the skin's likely to split aren't quite so defined? Then
attempt to pull the skin together with a steristrip, or small
pieces of medical tape to serve as stitches.

I think I have identified the problem to excess Vitamin E
(1000 IU). I have discontinued this and I think the condition
is improving. I will know for sure in a few more days.
