A friend of ours was just diagnosed w/ Connective Tissue
Disease. Her first layer of skin is peeling back and has
painful joints.

She is now looking to de-tox and start a nutritional diet,
with vitamins and supplements. (she's looking to start w/
apple-cider vinegar)

Any suggestions?

thank you very much!

What type of connective tissue disease would this be? There
are many of these. I assume she's on some sort of prescription
medication(s). What in the heck is apple cider going to do?

Apple cider vinegar is a popular thing. You might want to
dilute it in a glass of water. I certainly hope that meds are
taken and regular checkups are done. You might want to get a
book on arthritis. I presume some anti-inflammatory vitamins
such as vit E and selenium might help as these are autoimmune
conditions. Some people have tried bee sting therapy but it
may be very dangerous if the person is allergic to the sting.
The joint pain is because of immune complex deposition
resulting in inflammation. I would not use heating agents as
in osteoarthritis but topical anesthetics NSAIDs would work
better. Depending on the type of disorder as some can damage
the kidney you might want to watch the protein intake. You
might want to see the thread concerning renal failure diets.

Five different kinds of collagen are formed in humans.
Connective tissue disease is a general term, what specific
disease does she have?

Defects in collagen can be genetic in nature (bad genes).

Collagen can also be affected by a vitamin C deficiency
and deficiencies of other nutrients but for a diagnosis
of connective tissue disease, the pathology report
should indicate the specific kind of collagen defect
that is involved.

In addition to genetic defects in the genes that code for the
five different forms of collagen, these different forms can be
attacked by the immune system (autoimmune disease). Again, the
path report should have indicated if the problem was
autoimmune in nature.

Doctors often try to keep things simple. You need to find out
what the "exact" problem is.

Mike, your friend needs to find out what the exact cause is.
Without understanding what is causing the problem, detox or
any other natural healing technique is not likely to work.
