I am taking a hormone replacement called Estratest. In the Atkins book called new revolution, it said it would slow down my results of Atkins. I wanted to know has this affected others and what have they done about it. Are there ways around this, because it is not as if I can stop taking these meds. Alternatively, should I just stop Atkins all together? It seems like I am defeating the purpose of trying to lose weight. My third week starts tomorrow. I have lost weight and fat the first week but now nothing.

Hi Punky!
Yes, I take HRT - Premarin.
I am losing weight very slowly and it is certainly possible that the Premarin is involved. But I also take other meds that can slow me down as well. I'm also not about to stop taking the Premarin for many reasons, one of which is I remember how much better I felt once I started taking it!
The way I see it, with low fat/low cal, I was always hungry and whenever I'd eat something sweet, off I'd go on a binge. In other words I'm addicted to carbs.
So no matter how slow my weight loss is, it is happening. I've lost 13 lbs in 15 weeks. Not much, but it is happening. This is the way I plan to eat for life.
Punky, 10 lbs in 2 weeks is wonderful! :cheer:
Often, after a big loss like that, the body has a bit of a pause, taking a deep breath as it were.
Carry on Punky, you are doing brilliantly!
