My mom's side of the family is very close and this will be probably the fifth big family reunion they've held in my lifetime. We're going to a campground in Missouri this time, where there will be tons of outdoor activities. I've been looking forward to it...except for all the inevitable pictures.
I just haven't lost any of the weight I wanted to lose this summer, and now there will be photos to prove it. At the last reunion (8 years ago) I was slightly heavier than I am now, but only by about twenty pounds. God, those pictures of me were the worst ever.
I'm still about 40 lbs from my goal weight and feeling very fat. The dilemma for me is, do I "hide out" when it's time to take pictures?

I would say take the pictures! So you have motivation! Thats why I take pictures so I can go back and look and see what I use to look like! Keeps me going! Don't look at it as a burden use it as a tool! By the next time you have the reunion you'll be skinny! ;)

P.S. I hate pictures of myself, too, but sometimes they do surprise me.

I think if you know there going to be bad, like I do so often of me, just let em take them. In your mind you need to stay true to yourself and remeber your trying and woking hard on losing the weight, I do that:) So remember we are always the hardest on our selves. Others often don't care. There not even looking at us... I wish you the best, be Happy and be cheerful, let them all know your Happy:) and let them know you have lost 20 lbs, and your a turtle thats not giving up:) hugs

Thanks for all the replies and encouragement.
Okay I'll let them take a few pics of me.
I am proud of my increased physical fitness--secretly looking forward to surprising a few people who wouldn't expect that a mom of "my age" would be able to keep up on the hiking, swimmming, etc. That will be nice.
