Had a package of hamburger I needed to use tonight and didn't feel like my usual Italian spiced meatballs, so I created this. All amounts are very approximate - I just sort of dumped things in. Really tasty dipped in saffron infused mayonnaise (soak a few threads of saffron in a tablespoon or two of hot water, then add to a cup or more of mayonnaise and stir well to combine)!

2 lbs ground beef
2 t. onion powder
1 t. garlic powder
2 t. salt
2 t. ground cumin
1 t. ground coriander
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. ground cinnamon
1/4 t. ground allspice
1 t. smoked paprika
1 t. turmeric
2 t. chile piquino (cayenne would be a good substitute, just use less)
handful of chopped fresh mint
2 drops sweetzfree dissolved in 2 T. water (the sweetzfree distributes more easily if you dilute it with water)

Mix everything together and shape into 1" balls. Brown in a large skillet on two sides, then cover and cook to desired doneness (I like mine medium rare, so I didn't cook them very long, maybe 3 mins covered). Serve with saffron mayonnaise for dipping.
