I was at GNC today and noticed a CASEIN (100%) that has only 2carbs per serving. (and 120Calories 0 fat and 30 g Protein so 30*4=120 Calories ! )
the guy there told me that this is very good on Atkins and that it is best to be taken at night, since the protein kind that is in it is slowly absorbed and thus makes us feel not hungry at night...
any comment on this ?

I've been wondering the same thing as well. I hear it doesn't cause an insulin spike like whey protein because it digest slower. I'm interested to hear what others have to say about it.

Isn't casein and lactose the two things that cause many people problems with dairy?

casein won't cause an insulin spike, but why do you want it? in our day and age of fat-phobia it is difficult to even buy meat with much fat on it. i worry in my own diet about too much protein. i can't imagine why i would ever want to take it straight. and i even work out three days a week. frankly i would stick to meat and eggs and other whole foods and ditch the protein powder.

Yes. Casein is second only to gluten in causing digestive, autoimmune, and neurological disorders.
