Hi everyone! I'm trying to decide if I want to weigh myself each morning. I am an "immediate gratification" kind of person (which is why I am overweight and in debt) and worry that it my discourage me is I see a gain or lack of loss. On the flip side, I think it's probably a good way to guage if what you are doing is working and if you need to make changes in your menus. Thoughts?

I personally find that I have to weigh myself every day to stay on track. If I don't weigh for a couple of days, I start slacking. And then not weighing for a couple of DAYS turns into a couple of WEEKS, and then I'm really in trouble.

I too am a daily weigher. I have learned over the last 5 years though not to sweat the small gains. I find though that if I don't weigh daily that a) I miss the lows and b) It helps keep me honest.

I weigh every morning Mon to Fri and don't weigh on the weekends. I also average my weekly weight loss to give me a true indication of my progress so that fluctuations don't get too me (too much!) :)

I weigh every day at the same time of the day. If you bounce around, meals, sweat loss, etc will give a less reliable record. Agree with Camaromom that it keeps me honest. Be prepared to some days not see losses you were SURE would be there. Other days, pleasant surprises.

I weigh everyday, but I recognize that my weight is really not just a number..it is a range of numbers.

What is in your stomach, water retention and scale weirdness all affect your weight.

You should see fluctuations in your weight...but recognize that the general trend is down.

It also helps to measure because if you are not losing pounds you could be losing fat/gaining muscle which means inches lost.

I've weighed every day for the past 4 1/2 years.
If nothing else, it holds me accountable.
It's much easier to pass up something bad if I know I have to face the scale tomorrow morning.

Great advice- thanks everyone. I got a new digital scale yesterday and will begin weighing myself every morning beginning tomorrow.

This is a great site. I have asked a few questions and so many people are quick to respond and offer their help and support. I think that this site will have a great impact on the success of my "journey".
