No, pumpkin is considered a winter squash that we can have in phase II...not phase I.
Protein bars are not a good choioce at all on most phases of SB...we try to focus on eating whole fresh foods...not franken foods. :)
ps- the food lists for both phases are at the beginning of the check in thread.

Hi and Welcome Julia!!
Good luck getting your "low carb feet" back. Just please keep in mind that SB is not truly a low carb plan as it focuses on good carbs, good fats and portion control...and we don't count our carbs.
Have you read any of the SBD books yet? :)

Hi Judy: I have only browsed through the SBD book but I do have a copy. I suppose it would help if I read it first? I just know that it is very hard for me to do the Atkins because it is just too much protien for my body to handle. I am a carboholic for sure and I know that I need to reduce the amount of carbs/type of carbs I am eating. I work in a women's rehab center and there is constantly cookies, cakes, breads, etc. and I have been overdoing it to the point that I just don't have any energy and my body is telling me to STOP! I am glad you wrote and if you could give me one tip for staring SBD, what would it be? Thanks!!! *** Julia***

1- Please do read the book!!
2- We have the food lists and Meal Plan charts located at the start of our daily check in threads. Please find them and print them up...make 2 copies. Carry one copy of the phase I food list and meal chart with you at all times. Each time you walk past all those cookies and pastries(white flour), look at the food list to find a food that you can have...stop dwelling in what you will no longer eat. :)
Good Luck!!

Excellent Julia!! Walking is fabulous!! :agree:
Most of us start a journal here and use it log our food and other stuff each day. It's a very valuable tool for success!! I think that you should start a journal and use it ever day too.
I did it as my food log as it helped me to stay accountable. I logged my food for all 20 months that I was losing my weight. There is a link to it on the 1st page of my current journal in case you'd like to see my food. :)
