I suffer from Reactive Hypoglycemia, diagnosed with a Oral Glucose Tolerant Test where the lowest registered value has been 39.
For more than a week I have tried to experiment with low carbing rather than many small meals a day.
I hope there are other Reactive Hypoglycemics here, so we can compare our discoveries and deductions:
1) I do far better with three meals a day rather than six of more meals.
2) I can tolerate Intermmitent Fasting (eating from 2 pm to 9 pm) after the first two terrible days my body learned to keep sugar balanced even without eating and I didn't feel hunger or symptoms from skipping breakfast.
3) I can tolerate more carbs as long as they're in the evening meal.
Breakfast and Lunch must be zero carbs except veggies. At dinner I seem to be more carb tolerant but ingesting carbs at breakfast would ruin the whole day for me and I would need to start from scratch the next day to have a chance to clear myself from RH symptoms.
I want to try know to add refeeds to my diet, since I'm active and want to exercise everyday I'm afraid my very low carb diet won't sustain my athletic efforts without refeeds.
Do you think they will play havoc with the balance created by the LC meals or glycogen depletion will allow those carbs to be easily metabolized.
I thought of a scheme like this: 3 days of ketogenic lunches and 2 days of LC dinner, the third dinner is refeed. And I start the cycle again.
I'm also still figuring out when it's the best moment to exercise.
I wonder if other people suffering from RH have found the right moment of the day to be more "exercise tolerant" without symptoms.
Thank you a lot!
