What has your experience been with rosacea and low carb?

Both my arthritis and my rosacea improved after I began lo-carbing, but the difference after i switched to Paleo was amazing.

My arthritis doesn't bother me hardly at ALL and my rosacea is MUCH improved. It didn't cure it, of course, but my skin is much softer and hydrated and I get NO zits or outbreaks any more.

HTH!

After I was cut open in 1995 and my intestines leapt out of my body (and had to be put back in), I had mild rosacea for a few years. A Japanese chiropractor told me it was the result of my intestines pressing on my lungs (though the lungs are reflected higher on the face, closer to and around the eyes, if you accept eastern medicinal thought).

It eventually went completely away as my body settled back into relative normalcy. If I still had it, I would regularly take acidophilus or other probiotics. Acidophilus bacteria thrive in an acid environment obviously, and do well with Vitamin C intake. I suspect that a diet high in white sugar and flour can contribute to rosacea, so it would seem logical that LCing, especially LCing that focuses on a whole foods diet and avoidance of chemicals, would help.

I had always had perfect skin and the rosacea was upsetting. I hope you have good luck clearing it up!

Oh! I also always had good skin! The rosacea appeared in the 1st trimester of my first pregnancy (almost 8 years ago) and it drove me insane to suddenly have that mess on my face.

I've struggled with rosacea for over 8 years .... until I switched to low carb a few months ago. KNOCK ON WOOD, I have not had an outbreak since. I didn't even realize it had happened until I saw my younger sister recently and she had just developed rosacea, and it suddenly struck me I hadn't had an outbreak since going LC. Did LC "cure" it? Who knows... I'm way too much of a die-hard skeptic to instantly go there, but ..... just plain coincidence? Probably not.

my rosacea also cleared up on the diet. in fact, i went off plan for a while over the holidays and it flaired up again. that's one thing that made me realize how much the diet has helped. that's also good incentive to stay on it!

another vote here for LC improving rosacea. i still get a bit of a monthly hormonal flare-up, but it's really minor compared to how it used to be. i've also found that diacneal from Avene helps a lot, and makes my skin really soft.

Research is beginning to show that rosacea is one of the many signs of a low level gluten intolerance.

So yes, my moderate rosacea is now barely noticable. I used to have to SPACKLE on liquid foundation, now and again I will use the lightest brush of mineral powder.

No meds or ointments, I do use Aveeno ultra calming face wash and lotion. Dermatologist said I could thank my fair skinned relatives for this. So, UMMM thanks.

Most people who have rosacea have an infection in their stomach lining, and when that infection is eliminated, their rosacea disappears.
