Advair can possibly cause weight gain.

http://asthma.emedtv.com/advair/advair-and-weight-gain.html

Weight gain may be a possible side effect of Advair® (fluticasone and salmeterol). In clinical trials conducted before Advair was approved, weight gain was not reported as one of the possible Advair side effects. However, since Advair has been available to the general public, healthcare providers or patients have reported cases of weight gain that were possibly due to Advair. Because not everyone who experiences weight gain while taking Advair reports this as a possible side effect to the manufacturer, it is impossible to estimate exactly how commonly (or rarely) weight gain occurs with Advair.

More importantly, it has some pretty serious risks:

Advair currently has a “black box” warning, which a precautionary statement given to the medication by the Food and Drug Administration. This warning has come about as a result of various studies on the safety of salmeterol. The largest study, called the SMART trial, showed a small increase in the risk of death and hospitalization asthma and breathing problems when taking salmeterol, particularly in African-American patients. For this reason, the FDA has placed a “black box” warning on salmeterol, as well as Foradil (formoterol), which works in much the same way.

thanks. I knew about the black box warning I have been on this medication before. the difference bieng I was not trying to lose weight at the time and weight gain for me could have been what I was eating and not the advair. Its just bad timing that I have a flair up right now when my weight loss is really moving right along. Decided to use the medication till my asthma is stable again which ususally isnt more than two weeks.
