Why is it that all we hear is these low carb bars are bad for us? That there are hidden carbs? True: Using the carb tools it does show hidden carbs. BUT...why then does eating one NOT give me a headache, NOT make me sleepy? And when I eat one I stay full and satisfied for 4-6 hours? It just does not make sense to me! Just wondering if anyone had the magic answer.

Hi, Cherio. I answered this earlier today but a system crash took it so I will try over again.

The magic answer to your logical question is that every person is different, and some (like lucky you) aren't affected much by sugar alcohols or glycerol/glycerine. However, many ARE affected, and there is only ONE way to find out. If it doesn't bother you, great, but does that mean we shouldn't warn others about it? I don't think so.

As you read more, and more carefully, you will find that posts about Hidden Carbs by long-term experienced low carbers almost always talk about how it's important for those people who ARE sensitive to be informed so they aren't blindsided or taken by surprise by a food product that raises their blood sugar and/or stalls their weight loss... a product that is not correctly or legally labelled so they have been a bit, ahem, lied to.

That's it. That's the answer.

Thanks Island Girl,

I whole heartedly agree! LOL Especially when I see a post from someone frustrated in their losing and eating like 3 of those bars a DAY!! LOL I eat maybe 1-2 a week depending on whether they are on sale or not! LOL Some weeks, none at all. Thanks again for the logical answer! :D
