I fell 12 feet off a ladder, and landed on my right heel. I felt so proud landing on my feet, so graceful, if you discount the falling part.

I ended up with a bad case of plantar fasciitis. I hate going to physical therapy all the time and the blasted drs. I feel like my foot is healing itself and I just need to baby it for a while.

Has anyone else ever had this, even heard of it? How did you get rid of it? How long did it take? I'm interested in all the details. Did any med, supplements, exercises help you? My dr says it could take 2 months to a year. I've gotten way better really fast and want to keep moving in the positive.

Ohhhhhhh, yes! Plantar fascitis and I are long-time sworn enemies.

I've had it twice, now, once in each foot. Do you wear a brace to bed at night? If not, see if you can get one from your doctor. A brace really will help.

Get well soon!

I've injured my feet several times.
Ice/heat for 20 min intervals as much as your time allows.
Keep it elevated for the first 24 hrs can prevent painful swelling.

From there repeat as necessary.

It sucks. A foot injury can be so debilitating.
All the best!!! XO

thanks you all for responding. Yes, while the foot injury isn't the most painful thing I've had it is pretty bad for my life.

I saw a specialist who recommended I get a steroid shot and have a cast for a month. I decided to go ahead with it. I've been going thru workers comp, the only time the workers comp dr has ever smiled at me was when he told me I still have to go to work with the cast. I can't drive with it and the specialists wants me on bedrest. Its against company policy to work with a cast. I've already taken a leave of absence and don't care if workers comp pays, I need to be able to walk to do any job. Hopefully the total rest will get it better.

I've seem the ads for the brace, I would be willing to wear it for life if it will get my foot better. Kisal do you wear it all the time or just when you've actually got pf?

The heat, ice thing sounds good too. I've been kind of doing that. I like to jacuzzi, but its too hot for my foot. So I put my foot in front of the water thing then on a ice bag and go back and forth. Well the jacuzzi makes the rest of me feel good.

Kisal do you wear it all the time or just when you've actually got pf?The brace I have is made of hard plastic, with a cushioned terry cloth liner that can be removed and washed. It covers the bottom of my foot and back of my calf, and has 3 velcro straps across the front. I only wear it at night and only when I have some kind of foot pain. It's turned out to be one of the handiest "home medical" things I own.

I even wore it once when I thought I had a badly sprained ankle. As it turned out, the ankle was broken, but the hard plastic brace was a godsend, providing the support my ankle needed until I managed to get myself to a doctor.

Nawchem,

I love your spirit. You fell off a ladder literally landed on your feet and the one thing you want to do is get back up and running. That is so cool.

I've had this twice and both times it took months-up to 10-to get over. Terrible pain in the morn upon standing. A cortisone shot will help but it always wore off in 5/6 weeks. I have two types of foot braces-one was called a stroke splint-hard plastic L shaped that I wore at night to keeep my foot from relaxing and letting it tighten. It fastened with an ace bandage. The other brace I bought at Target and is cloth and velcro. It's not as effective but I use it sometimes. Streching the foot upon arising help to stretch it out. Sit on chair, cross your leg and pull the toestoward your shin and hold for 10 seconds. Also walk and roll your foot in each step and never sit and point your toes. It shortens that tendon. I got to the place where I'd go to my ortho dr. and tell him the stuff I'd read up about this and he'd listen to me. Time will heal but be patient. Hope this helps, Anne

There's a very common exercise for PF that involves rolling a tennis ball under your foot - I don't recall the specifics but every runner I've ever know who has had a PF bout uses it. You could google it, I'm sure.
