Oh man. I waited and waited for my DaVinci SF pancake flavor syrup to arrive. And I was thrilled when I opened it as the bottle was much bigger than I was envisioning (guess I didn't read the total ounces when I ordered?).

But I just tried it on flax pancakes and BARF. The pancakes themselves were outstanding (though a little too crepe-y; I shouldn't have added heavy cream). But the syrup? Ughhh. Not quite sweet enough and just sort of...sharp. I mean sort of just like chemicals.

I'm really disappointed. I was ready for an explosion in my mouth that would transport me to another dimension.

I've been using it for several months and I agree. It doesn't taste bad enough for me to toss it, but I'd never buy it again (unless the sf alternatives are way worse, I haven't tried any more).

Are normal store bought sf syrups better in your opinion? Are they carbier despite being sf?

The one I prefer -- sf Golden Griddle -- definitely has more carbs (8g per 1/4 cup), but I only use half of the suggested serving size, and I don't use it very often. It also contains sorbitol, a sugar alcohol, which probably wouldn't agree with everyone.

Twiddle and Kisal--I haven't tried any of the SF syrups from the grocery store. In fact the reason I didn't pick any up is that the two brands I found had quite a few carbs (as Kisal said). I *might* try these SF's with a protein (I'm starting on the IR Diet)/very eggy pancake...that would wind up balanced and it might taste better!!!

Thanks for the tip!

I like smuckers SF syrup, and you can buy it just about anywhere.

Maybe you could use the syrup mixed with mustard as a glaze for salmon? Or throw a little into a protein drink? (Just trying to think of ways you could maybe use it, rather than toss it.)

Oh, I kinda like it. I warm it up and put it on eggs and it is like french toast.

You did notice it needs to go the fridge right? Not like the other D syrups.

Walden Farms no cal/no carb syrup isn't bad - I've had it in both Maple and Blueberry. You can get them through netrition.com.

I also like Smuckers SF syrup best. I only use 1-2 T on pancakes, not an entire 1/4 cup serving.

Hmmm I've never put mine in the fridge. I wonder what it does? It has been sitting on my counter since Oct, and now it only has about 2 inches left in the bottom.
