Hello-
This is my first post. I was wondering  if anyone had tried the muffins available from Synergydiet.com? This is not the muffin mix but the premade muffins that come in packs of 4. Here are the ingrediants:
xylitol, whey protein concentrate, calcium sodium caseinate, psyllium husks, blueberries, natural spice, salt, sucralose.
I ask because they are SOOOO good. Toasted with butter and I don't have any cravings at all. They are listed as about 6 grams of carbs and it just seems to good to be true!
Wondering where the catch is?
How about Ross chocolates? Any bad news on them? I've been afraid that they are the cause of my stall!

I also just ordered some of the muffins you mentioned...
...and am looking forward to giving them a try. Lot's of tasty looking treats on the synergydiet site...

A little while later...
...my order arrived this morning and I tried a half a muffin with lunch. Delicious! I'm also trying the green onion tortillas and I ordered a cake roll. I'll post after I try them.

Thanks for the detailed Ingredient List on the pre-made (blueberry?) muffins, Aquameliza.
For anybody who wants to know if a carb count is too good to be true, there are two things you can do that will help you (and everybody else here) out.
(1) post the Nutrition Facts label info... you know, the Calories and the Protein, Fat and Carb/Fiber grams, so we all know what they are.
(2) take those numbers and run them through the Hidden Carb inspector/calculator gizmo we have right here on this website, see the orange menu bar above, then click on the LowCarb Tools item, then find the Hidden Carb calculator.
Looking forward to hearing real details and reviews on these muffins, y'all!

and I'm freaking out!
Ok, I've never used the Hidden Carb calculator before, but this is what was on the label of the muffins I bought from Synergydiet.com:
STREUSEL APPLE CINNAMON
1 muffin
calories 134
fat 0
protein 10g
carbs. 6.2
There is 3g fiber, but I did not put this in the hidden counter because it was not subtracted on the food label.
Therefore I come up with 24.29 carbs grams per muffin.
Say it aint so....

Oh dear, as I suspected with I saw Xylitol as the first (and therefore majority) ingredient in the Ingredient List first given.
I am sorry to say, DRWolfe, that Xylitol is without a doubt a "Hidden Carb", a sugar alcohol or bulk sweetener. Do check out the Tips webpage from the orange menu bar above  and check out the info on Hidden Carbs and on sweeteners/sugar alcohols, if you haven't already.
The Hidden Carb calculator works on the declared calories , so provides as close to an accurate account of the digestible carb count as you will get. Unless the muffin-makers have made a GIANT boo-boo with the zero grams of fat, for example, there are a LOT of Hidden Carbs in these dang muffins.
Sweet always tastes suspiciously good.

Thank you IslandGirl...
...I'm feeling a little dopey today for being taken in by the claims regarding the carb counts of these muffins. Worse yet, I let myself believe they were what they claim to be because they arrived with a sticker claiming they were developed by doctors we believe we can trust.
I guess it's just like those stupid "low-carb" bars that everyone avoids because of their false claims. I've read hundreds of posts about those but I had blinders on when I ordered these muffins.
From now on I will run all numbers through that hidden carb counter!
Thanks for waking me up!

:daze: I also ran the nutritional counts through the hidden carb counter and given the ingrediants, the only carbs would seem to come from the alcohol sugars and a few from the blueberries (but they are the contributor to the fiber as well)- nothing else in there could possibly have any carbs- where do the 25 come from if not from the alcohol sugars- which I have been reading about and seems controversial. Psyllium husks and protein isolate don;t contribute carbs-right?
What am I not understanding about this carb calculator? I mean don't the actual ingrediants count.
I cheated on Easter so I am back on induction- no muffins for me- but those really got me through hard days- I will be very dissappointed to find out they they are "lying"! How do companies determine the carb count- are there FDA laws about it?
Still confused-

I sent a note to synergydiet.com today...
...and asked for an explanation of the 6.2 carb count that they claim for these muffins. I told them that I would share the results here for the benefit of others.
I'll post as soon as I get a response.

Aquameliza, the companies are making their own rules about carb counts on Nutrition Facts labels, and the FDA does NOT like it all, because THEY write the rules and what the companies are doing is actually illegal.
There's a lot of posts about hidden carbs and true carb counts, and even about the FDA sending letters out to the various "low carb" manufacturers just late last year. Like with any product we buy, it's a case of Buyer Beware or, if you like, Buyer Be Aware :D
This is why we must all count for ourselves, and why we have the excellent Hidden Carb calculator here at this site.
Do a SEARCH (see the button on the upper right of your screen) on the Forums with "FDA" and "Atkins", this will probably bring up some good posts for your reading instead of me repeating it here.
Good reading.

Absolutley no repsonse from Synergydiet.com about the actual carb counts of their muffins...
...even though I've sent email to them at both the product inquiry email address and customer service.
Guess they don't want us to know the truth.
I read the article about sugar alcohols and bulk sweeteners and I LOL when I read that they often give people extreme gas and diarhea. I had the worst gas of my life after eating one oftheir muffins followed by an afternoon running back and forth to the bathroom!

Greetings, guys!
I know it's been awhile since we discussed these muffins, but I was going through the thread for another reason, and realized that there's no brand name here for these muffins... were these the OsoLo or the Better Bakery brand? Can anyone clarify?
Thanks!
