I'm a lurker mainly b/c every question I think of I can find in Judy's blog or by searching.

I've been living low carb for quite sometime - fell off the wagon a few weeks before my wedding (lost too much weight and the dress couldn't be reconstructed in time so I had to gain :( )

I decided I needed more food variety, brushed up on the SB book and cruised this forum and dove in in January.

Just thought I'd post since y'all addressed some lurkers :)

I am scared to post, because I am scared to do low carb type diets because I am scared I will have to give up too much of all the food I love. But I agree with the lifestyle, I believe it to be healthy....just not ready to dump the bread and baking yet.

But you guys have the best advice and support!!!

Hey, it's great to see you guys (hear you guys? Read you guys?) You don't have to ask questions to post. It's fun to just talk to folks about this woe. And it keeps me from driving my family crazy with SBD talk. Please feel free to start a journal if you like. That is the best way to get to know folks. Please feel free to drop by my journal too, I love company.

Joesfolks, thanks for calling on the lurkers. If people don't post then there isn't much to read. I prefer reading to posting myself, but I do try to start threads occasionally. I could just spend all day researching, but what good does it do anyone besides me if I don't share at least once in a while?

Oh, if you don't want to post in the serious sections there is always the I don't know what it's called, but there is a couple places where you can post fun stuff that isn't related to LCing.

I believe that you may be talking about The Lighter Side which is at the bottom of the main low carb menu on this site.

Doesn't matter if lurkers don't post. There are many views and maybe someone was inspired just by lurking - best wishes.

Yes, you are right, they don't have to post but it makes it more fun for all of us when they do.

Hello!

I rejoined this site following the advice my dietitian had given me when I was pregnant and had been diagnosed with gestational diabeties, well after going online and reading about SB I realized I am just pretty much following phase 2 hehe.

Anyway, when I decided to restart LC, there was no way I wanted to do the 2 week "Induction" or "Phase 1", because I know limiting myself to that would have me feeling so deprived that I would simply just say "screw it" and cheat as I have done many times in the past. So far I dont feel deprived, if I want fruit I eat it (those on phase 2 only), I havent added in the yogurt, beans, or milk but I do have the occasional grain in the form of LC sugar free bread and only once a day usually during breakfast or lunch.

Anyway I am hoping that the more threads I belong to will have me staying on the site longer and keep me on track. If I log in and only visit 1 thread then log off that gives me more time on my hands to think about food.

Glad to have you here. Some folks don't do phase 1. It's up to you to follow the plan as written or not. You should be aware that you may not lose your craving for carbs which is really what phase 1 is all about IMO. Also, carbs are what holds water in your body. That is why so many people lose so much weight in the first few weeks. But at any rate I just wanted to welcome you here. We love newcomers. You might want to start a journal so we can always find you. Best wishes.

I am Barbara. I did not lurk a lot but when my meds started to make me ill and I regained what I did lose on low carb because I gave up on weight loss and diets when the doc blackmailed me into taking a med I thought would harm me.

I regained the weight I loss they took me off of thyroid meds and I found I can't eat MSG as the BP goes to the sky and partly why I was on heavy meds pluss my weight, for BP.

I took them for a while and ate what ever. I regained but over time I would get sick with pain in my stomach and my heart would beat funny from the meds. I went to the doc and they gave me stomach meds so I did not argue for when I did they would not treat me. (the blackmail part).

I found out a few days ago after I been very sick for a long while from the meds to my stomach the meds were doing other damage to my body like my kidney's. My mom died of being diabetic and kidney failure with being blind. I did not want to walk this path as well as strokes so I took the meds but I gave up for my goal of what I wanted was overruled.

She took me off two meds a few weeks ago when I was real sick and called to do something about it. I dropped one than called and she changed the other one. It was not as bad but I still had problems. I went for my checkup after I had an MSG food so BP was a bit high but my blood work showed the damage from the meds and she pulled me from the meds.

But after I stopped the 1st two meds I decided to work for weight loss but not as strong as I am now.

I am not walking my mom's path but just before she did that I started to drop water weight and went down a bit before she pulled me off the 3rd and final med.

I decided to do natural treatment and found about vinegar and been doing that and now read all labels for MSG type stuff. I found I had a few MSG products with hidden MSG so I was very careful in what I bought.

I am mostly lower carb now but working towards a better way of eating. I drink a lot more and thank lord I am running a lot more to the loo. My water weight so far seems to be not returning off the meds and my feet is not swollen showing kidnsy's not working.

I am still sick a lot from the side effects of the meds and I expect that will clear in time.

It is hard to walk in winter so I work do to Walk A Way The pound videos in my tiny place.

I was scared to deat till I realized I went down in water weight before she pulled the meds after she pulled the two other one's. The Diovan was the worst for me and when it wore off is when I started to run. I felt a bit better once I realized this but that does not change the fact I need to go back down in weigh. I am not sure if I will be as thin as when I was younger but I can do better.

I do lose on low carb and walking for a fact. I lose on lower carb and walking and a bit of fruit as well. I did so before. I am on thyroid meds again. My heart tested strong and cholesterol is fine as well. I am to be retested on kidney's in a month. A guy in the office said the same happened to him and full function returned in 3 months.

I expect to be fine but let's say I hit the wall so to speak.

I Live my Lake Erie and it has been very cold here and snowy so hard to walk outside of course and I live in a two room place too. I try to paint piantings and do my videos now.

I am on the net too much though.

Anyhow I started to read more here recently.

I rather not put a journal in the open on the web where anyone can read it.

HI, I am a former SB who wants to come home. I've been lurking while off plan, trying to get the money and gumption to get started again. Hi Moog,

Do you think the plan is expensive? I have saved tons of money by not eating everything in sight :help: Being on the road a lot, I've calculated to have saved almost $300 a month from nasty snacks, gas station food, fast food, etc. My meals (good fish, etc) are a bit high, but overall, much cheaper.

For me, I felt better after the 2nd month. It takes some real guts up to that point and then it becomes a lot of fun to experience the transformation :)

Anyway, great to hear you're on the right track - you can do it :)

That is ok. It is the name of my cat. Fancy.

So far things seem to be ok. It depends on the blood work. I do get a bit dizzy getting up at night due to BPressure but otherwise it seems to be ok. I can do a lot more of my videos now too.

I still get sick from the meds to my tummy though. I am told it will take a month or so to clear up.

I visit all the forums. We are all LCers even if our plans differ here and there. A lot of LCers would be dismayed at all the processed meats I eat, all the AS, and horrified at my mashed acorn squash which I indulge in on occassion. But, I think we have more in common that not.

Well I have been LCing again for 3 days nows. Currently in the induction phase of Atkins. I have found that reading (lurking) everything I come accross keeps me occupied and not tempted to eat, which has always been a problem for me. Eating when bored.

Former Atkineer  After I fell off the wagon I realized I did b/c I was missing certain things. Low and behold, I could eat them on South Beach! I've found it easier to stick to this.

I'm going to try and participate more b/c I need some healthy distraction. I had surgery February 3rd for cervical cancer and I really need to stick to plan more than ever to be sure I heal well. It was caught early during my routine exam but quickly went from pre-cancer to cancer so my doctors are keeping a close eye on me since it has been so aggressive.

Hi there,

I Atkins instead of SBD but where you say about driving your family crazy with the diet talk.............That's me all over. My daughter calls me an Atkins Nazi.....or she did when I first started 6 years ago. This time around I try not to talk about just my diet.......Now all I talk about is ABC's Lost......Now she calls me the LOST nazi......LOL, I can't win...

Nice to meet you,

Nanci
