Was wondering. I have been on Wellbutrin for many years, at least 5 years now. It seems at times that I still just can't control the down feeling and the hopelessness. I went to the dr a week ago and he has decided that he wants to add celexa (spelling) along with the wellbutrin. I have the rx for it still sitting in my bag. I am unsure about filling it. Alot of the meds that I have taken over the years for depression/anxiety actually seem to cause weight gain. Has anyone taken this, and if so what side effects did you experience. I was on this med. years ago, but its been so long I can not remember the side effects, or why I stopped taking it.

I would probably still be taking celexa if i had insurance.
I felt wonderful on it.
The only issue, is that for the first week or so, about a half hour after taking it, id' get stomach cramps. That resolves after a while.

Thanks Samantha. I started the celexa today. I am just gonna wait and see. I think the reason I stopped taking it years ago was that it was new and I couldn't afford the rx. I was shocked when I filled it-it now has a generic called, citalopram. I got it filled at walmart and it was around $13.00. Its doable, I dont have rx insurance. In case your interested, the generic doesn't cost that much.

Are you taking brand Wellbutrin or generic? I found that the generic didn't work for me, but once I went back on the 'brand name', I was just fine.
Just something to consider....insurance companies hate it when my doc writes the Rx for brand, but why waste money on the generic that DOES NOT work??

I have taken Celexa for 6 months. I gained 25 pounds on it, it was horrible. It was prescibed to me for my dizziness, it only made it worse, go figure, lol.

Celexa saved me from a very dark period of my life, I slept very well at night did not gain wt in fact I lost it and I had very vivid but good dreams (they were actually fun dreams)
I could focus and find joy in moments and that was not easy for me
I only tapered off because I was at a better place and time, I felt I could do it on my own by that point.
and I am doing fine
it worked fast (started in 48 hours) and it only took a one week taper with out any problems to get off
I love it and would not hesitate if I needed it to use it again!
Wellbutrin gave me panic attacks and since anxiety was a huge issue that did not help at all
good luck I hope this works for you like it did for me it was amazing
like a light going on in the world during a very dark time
