I tried the Peanut Butter Crisp and love it. Any other suggestions for good bars? I'm buying them at Wal-mart but they are expensive. If anyone is finding them cheaper anywhere else let me know. They are great for travel when you can't easily find something low-carb. Thanks!!

In the event that your weight loss stalls, the bars very possibly will be the reason. That doesn't happen to everyone, though, so enjoy them, unless a problem develops. :)

I too love the peanut butter crisp. The only other one I really like is the peanut butter bar that has much higher carbs. Still Atkins but not good for the earlier stages.

Hi, This is my third time doing low-carb and I will have to tell you that this is the first time I have not eating the Atkins bars. Now that I think back to the last two times, I think that the bars were part of my stall. I did not stall right away but I must think that my body was using them as full carbs (like how some peole stall on pop because the body uses them as full carbs/sugar). I have been dooing low-carb and I have not had any cravings for any SF candy/Atkins bars this time. I think the bars just keep the junk food cravings alive :p
Maybe - MMonden

Maybe - MMondenYou and I seem to have had the same experience, and as a result, share the same philosophy!

Thanks for the advice!! I'm on my last 4lbs right now. I haven't found a problem with eating one Atkins bar per day (2 net carbs). I did have to start counting calories as well as carbs on my last five lbs though.

last night I had an atkins bar at a friends house, she had tried the atkins diet and given up. Now today I have the sugar taste in my mouth, I will not be eating anymore the bars.

I like all of the bars, and the EAS low carb bars and the Met-Rx bars that have only 2 g of carb. Then again, I spent a week at an Army camp and spent three nights in a hospital when the wife gave birth. I liked the food there too so I might not be the best judge :help:

I think the bars are only good in a pinch. For me, part of LC is to get rid of the desire for sweets, so eating a bunch of sweet processed junk just makes me crave more and more of it. I had a little LC candy yesterday, and it triggered the hunger for sweets, if I stick to salad, and meats, then I don't want the stuff as much...

ROTFL I can relate. I was in the army in the 70's and remember the food and didn't mind it one bit. I swear I was the only one in my platoon who gained weight in BT. A lot of the other girls lost. I gained but still I was too thin when I went in.
I definitely don't mind the taste of the Atkins Bars. I just wonder if the raise glucose. I only eat half a bar at a time and have never tested.

I ordered a bunch back when I originally LC-ed, they kept me fairly steady in my weight and they were good to turn to when you had a sweet craving, it was nice to have a little more variety. The endulge bars are delicious but the actual bars aren't so great since they've started using sucralose.
Even before that some flavours simply stank- "smores" atkins bars were absolutely disgusting. Its best to stick to the simpler flavours I think.

The only Atkins bar I love is the one with the coconut and chocolate covering. It reminds me of a Mounds Bar. But that's just the trouble. I don't need no Steenking Atkins Bar to remind me of a Mounds Bar!! I need to be persuaded that eating greens is a special treat. It makes long ears and great big feet.

I'm new to the program using Dr. Atkins for Diabetes and it suggests using them, they do seem to replace the craving for sweets, but don't get the mocha ones, they're terrible. I've found some websites online where the bars are a little cheaper, I just googled Lo Carb Grocery and found them, some with really cheap shipping.
