My research of hormonal imbalances led me to search liver detoxification because I found out that my hormones are not expelled out like they have to and the problem is that the liver becomes sluggish and allows for the reuptake of hormones once they are done utilizing.

Fatty liver and sluggish liver is also one of the problems with blood sugar or they co exist for some reason.

anyways people who have the dawn phenomenon seem to do well on milk thistle in reducing the insuline resistence. This I thought was interesting ..

Alphalipoic acis, inositol, N acetyle cystine are all used for insuline resistence and they are major protector of the liver.

So I wonder if liver is what to be blamed for insuline resistence.

I don't think blaming the liver would accomplish anything... If we eat too much protein (take in more then you can burn off), the excess will be converted by our liver to glucose and eventually stored as fat. That problem doesn't start in the liver, it starts where food enters the mouth... :)

Insulin Resistance (IR) is a metabolic disorder.... Many things can be done to reduce or eliminate IR. To me, it is not as important to know what causes IR, as it is to know what reduces or eliminates IR......... For me, I'm not trying to get a health degree, just trying to improve my health.... :)

I found several reported studies showing milk thistle to
be very beneficial for BG control.I generally thistle myself
one month a year.Maybe I'll do that pretty soon and see if
BG improves.

You've got me curious about thistle.... Remember, I believe it is all the little things we do that gives us control of our BG. You have achieved and maintained fairly good BG control, so in my mind, I think I need to look closely at the little things you do and consider it to be included in all the little things I do.

My questions are:

1. How much milk thistle do you take when using it?

2. Do you have any good references/studies to post on it?

I think if you have fatty liver disease your liver enzymes will be pretty high. Have you ever looked at the results of a metabolic blood panel? I like to get results from my doctors and I keep them in a notebook.

All supplements you can find that increases the glutahione levels also help with liver detoxification and blood glucose control.

I use milk thistle 600mg twice daily which has 80% sylimarin.

What do you guys think about liver flushes and recipes with epsom salt, olive oil and apple juice? it is a stretch in my opinion but i will not attempt such a thing.

some reference for silimarin

I was taking Milk Thistle before I read this article. I concluded that since liver and pancreas activity are closely related, it wouldn't hurt to do some liver detox. As a matter of fact, any kind of detox will help, since there is some connection between diabetes and toxins in the environment.
