I need some commitment
After doing induction very sucessfully and losing 15 pounds I started to reward myself. At first it was just a bit o whipping cream, than it was a teeny bit of real bread, than it was fruit when I was not on that rung yet. And then a few drinks. Well now it's been almost 2 weeks and I have not lost a single pound and quite frankly I feel pretty crappy about this.
I need some commitment. From MYSELF. My doctor threatened me with lap band surgery today and that just made me cry. Where or when am I going to get this?
I need some commitment :bash:

Sounds like you need a journal. I suggest you start one.
Also sounds like you need to tell your doctor to step back 3 feet and take a flying leap up your rear. I don't really understand how a doctor can threaten a patient with anything other than refusing to treat them.

I agree with Liz! Start a journal! It really does help to keep you accountable. :)
I, too, cannot imagine a doctor "threatening" a patient with anything! What does he/she plan to do? Strap you down and force you to submit to surgery? :nono:

yOu,
I am also one to agree with Liz and Kisal. A journal is a great thing to have. I don't know why I thought you had one. Anyway get one pronto. It will help with motivation because your friends here will be here for you. Also, you can be accountable. I would also use My Plan or Fit Day. That keeps you super-accountable of everything you stick in your mouth. I can understand what you are saying about just adding a little amount here and there. Remember I am the one that ordered the whipped cream dispenser that came to the door today. See, if you had a journal, you could talk me down from the ledge.
Really do get a journal going. I have talked a few people into it and besides keeping you on track, they are lots of fun. Good luck!!!!

i'll second the notion of the journal... or 5th it as the case may be :). it's a good way to vent out the triggers that may have you slipping off plan.
no doctor should ever threaten a patient. at your stats, there is no way you're a candidate for the lapband. that's just ridiculous. tell him to go lapband his brain, or go find another doctor that's more interested in patients than in procedures.
Thanks all for the advice, how do I start a journal on here?
BTW I really like my doctor, SHE has been very very kind to me in many ways especially treating me for free when I did not have insurence. I should not have used the word "threatened" I think she was/is looking out for my best interest and was trying to scare me because I am having a lot of health problems, same ones my mom did and she was her doctor also.
Anyway, thanks again for the advice and I will take most of it and I really do appreciate all of you on here. At the end of the day this place no matter what has happened can always put a smile on my face.
Howz the whipped cream dispencer? <ducking> :Puke:
I am gonna figure this out...that journal thingy... :agree:
Your little head bashing icon had me wincing! See what you think of the concepts in this article: http://www.oprah.com/article/omagazine/ss_omag_200701_mbeck/6
She has a book called The Four Day Win about the psychology of weight loss. I had it out from the library along with a few other books so just skimmed it, but it looked interesting.

yOu,
I can't remember how I figured it out but I am computer illiterate so I'm sure you will have no problem, or one of these smart computer people can help you.
The UPS guy brought the whipped cream dispenser but I have already had too much fat. I had a really bad day with bad, bad news so I said no cooking tonight and went out and had a ribeye (OMG Good) but it was big and I cut off fat but there was a lot plus my CO killed me because I took 4T for the first time. Now how was I to know that the man in the brown uniform was going to bring me something and not some stupid computer game for my husband. Well now hubby is FAR away from me reading the junk that came with it and is going to make it and I can't have any today.
I am going to plan much better tomorrow. But I would love it if you got a journal cuz then we can vent about UPS guys with brown shorts that bring me good things I can't have. And the whole world doesn't have to read about it like they are right now. LOL
About your doctor. I love my doctor. I really do. I have gone to her forever. My cholesterol was a little borderline. Both parents bad cholesterol and BP and we are working together to get it down with only prescription omega 3 fish oil and I am doing it with my diet. I am going to get my blood test at my 3 month mark on diet this month and if it is down, yeah!!! But I am bringing my menus and I eat 80% fat each day and if she cannot handle it I will have to look for one who can. I will hate it but my health is important.
I'm sure she was trying to scare you because you don't even fit the qualifications for a lap band if I am correct. Did you tell her you were going to LC it?? Is she okay with it?? You have to stay where you are comfortable. If she is it then that's it but let her know that she works for you, not the other way around. But that was nice of her to see you when you weren't insured. I get a lot of samples from my doc. So I don't have to bore everyone reading this, get a journal started. SO fun!!!! Questions to ask you but like I said, I hate to bore everyone.
TTFN,
Lisa
ps: am I good or what for not having any whipped cream???? uh huh!! :D
Dearest Lisa, I want whats in my UPS mans package if you get my drift. :agree: Sometimes I send myself packages..LOL
Anyway, you will be happy to know that I NOW HAVE A JOURNAL. :hyper: I hope your blood work comes out good and your doc sees your progress. To answer your question about my Doctor, SHE put me on low carb<tho modified with no butter or eggs> and does know what I am doing. I just wasn't serious enough about it for her, and she has known me and my family for 25 years. I do respect her, and know that I am her client and I pay her mortage. I often don't agree with her, and she accepts that. I refuse to go on statins for cholesterol, and I refuse to stop eating eggs and butter.
I gotta go think of something to mail myself...
and yes, your very good for not having whipped cream today...thinking you could cover the ups guy in it tho <ducking>

Lap band at only 225 pounds!!????? Most doctors would not recommend that, my sister is a candidate for lap band and she weighs over 300, and it took a while for her to convince him to refer her. And it is going to take a year of education before she actually has the surgery. If that is standard for all lap band procedures, you could have that weight gone easily within a year if you stick with low carb.
BTW, I am kind of in the same boat as you, except I have been treating myself the past 2 days only and have not been exercising. Gained 3 pounds too. And it's my brothers birthday today, so I probably won't be too stict today either. I've been trying new products and recipes cuz I love to cook, but it's so hard not to eat it all. What I need to do is get off of this computer and go exercise - I need motivation.
Marcia Mae, GET OFF THE FRIGGIN COMPUTER AND GO EXERCISE! Howz that for motivation? I'm letting myself play on here for 30 minutes and than a bike ride.

yOu, thanks for the motivation, unfortunately I didn't exercise AGAIN yesterday. Good news is I did today - and I NEVER exercise on a Sunday. I'm feeling much better today, ready to get back on track. Plus the 3 pound gain must have been temporary cuz I'm back down to where I was a few days ago. From now on, I'm not logging on here until AFTER I workout.
Marcia, thats a great plan. Exercising first and using this place as a REWARD..LOL...The things we have to do to motivate ourselves. I didn't even turn my computers on until 9 PM today!
