I'm getting more protein then fat. Can you give me ideas on how to add fat? Also, if I use oils to do it and I want to enter it in fit day, how do i count it. If I'm cooking with 2 tbls of oil, I'm not actually consuming that much so my numbers won't be accurate.

There's the rub -- how to accurately record not what you used but what you ate. If you are talking about sauteing then you can tilt the pan to gather the oil in one place and estimate. Or you can use the rule I finally came up with after a few years of contortions -- I assume I ate about 75% of what I used unless I see a lot of fat left in the pan. Same thing for butter or oil on veggies. It's not a bad rule of thumb -- I've done some weighing to confirm it.

As for how to get more fat, asuming you are doing the basic things like eating the skin and fat on your poultry and meats, you can start by choosing fattier pieces such as chicken wings and cheaper cuts of pork. You can add butter or something like a hollandaise sauce to meats and veggies. Cheese, within the induction limits if you are on induction. Avocado. Cream. There are recipes for coconut bark made from coconut oil (a solid at room temperature), cocoa and artificial sweetener in the recipes section. I keep it in the freezer -- one square contains a tablespoon of oil.

Mayo is a good dip for meats, and can be flavored with chipotle pepper or wasabi if you like hot, mashed garlic, cumin, lime juice, etc. You can make a pretty good cocktail type sauce if you add just a little ketchup to make it rosy along with some minced dill pickles, minced olives, a touch of mustard and some horseradish. Blue cheese dressing makes a good dip, too.

I fill shot glasses with olive oil and take two times a day...works for me....and try to use more mayo and butter when ever you can.

Check out the "Fat Fiends" thread under challenges. There are a number of "high fatters" on there (including me) and you can get great ideas on adding fat.

Ranch or blue cheese dressing on top of a piece of meat. Mayo, hot mustard as a dip for meats. I use coconut oil, check out that thread in the Atkins section.

I add raw butter and coconut oil to everything practically everything that I eat. I also take cod liver oil. I eat all my animal fat (grass-fed beefs mostly), I eat bacon, I drink full-fat raw milk, eat full-fat raw cheese, I eat an avocado every day. Fat is what satisfies appetite!

Sorry to thread jack.....Therese, I am currently reading "Eat Fat, Loose Fat" and they reccomend raw milk. My question is what does it taste like compared to regular 2% or even cream? I am looking into where I may be able to get it around here.

I'm currently reading "Eat Fat Lose Fat" too! I'm a little over half way through the book. Whole raw milk tastes rich and creamy with a nice sweet flavor, its very delicious. Have you seen www.realmilk.com to find a source near you?
