After months with no further loss (in fact 7 pounds gained in 2 months), I have to concede that I am stalled.
One thing I'm going to try is eliminating dairy products. I don't really know what I'm doing here, I lost eating dairy before, but some people have found this helps. My question is, do I need to eliminate my 0 carb whey protein isolate? I own a lot of it and it's something to consume that's not meat. Is it lactose intolerance I'm checking for? This stuff has no lactose.

hi allison,
I searched back to a post I wrote a year ago on the problems with cheese and dairy (http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=20210&highlight=dairy#post20210). In that post, I noted that the better quality isolated and purified whey proteins didn't seem to have the same stall potential as full milk or cheese, since casein and lactalbumin have been filtered out. There might be some useful ideas there for you.
Sorry that you're stalled out, you have my empathy ... from the same boat :(

Thanks Doreen! I'm beginning to think you know everything. It never occured to me that it might be the casein and I've never heard of lactalbumin. But it does seem more likely that it would be a protein that causes the problem -- I think I read that most allergens are proteins.
Sheesh. When I finish this third degree I may have to go to med. school to figure out what to eat.

since you didn't tell me in my post for whatever reason, what are "unaccounted calories"?

Heather,
I'll go back there and explain. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have assumed that you know. It's just been discussed so much all over the forum ... sorry.

lol at this--I've had this thought, too! I get a free class every term, and I've taken two exercise physiology classes...and keep swearing I'll take our (very difficult) anatomy and physiology sequence one of these days.
Doreen's expertise in medical matters is impressive! :)
I surely hope you break this stall soon.
