Hi again!

These Google Alerts pick up the weirdest things! This is a press release by the candy industry about how they are going to keep getting us to buy their products. It's quite interesting - read it yourself to find out what they say about the future of "low-carb" and "sugarless" candy...

That was really interesting.

Promotional expenditure is escalating due to heightened ad counts per year and growing number of distribution outlets per area. Advertisements are getting subliminal and are highlighting the positive, health-giving aspects of consuming confectionery, rather than promoting the product as a mere indulgence.

I think candy advertising mirrors the advertising for other carb products as well, like sugary cereals, "healthy" cereals, pop-tarts, etc etc. The entire notion that a good diet is one that should include grains (& their ilk) has been constantly driven into our national psyche. Candy may be a mere indulgence, but granola bars are healthy. Candy may be a mere indulgence, but Pomegranate juice is healthy.
I saw Pomegranate gum at the store. Wow, antioxidants! :spin: Must be health-giving.
