Dear All,

I joined this forum 3 years ago and lost around 15 pounds on phase one and more later. since then I have put on all my weight back again with is depressing. I tried so many diets but south beach has always worked so here I am, back again, hoping to lose all the weight like i did 3 years ago. Any words of advice and wisdom will be appreciated. One question though, how much did you lose on phase one?

I lost 13 pounds on ph 1, my sister lost about 22. The variable here is how much we needed to lose overall. 13 pounds was about 11% of my excess weight. Since starting phase 2, I've averaged a loss of about 1.5 pounds per week. My sister hasn't given me any number for the pounds she needs to lose, but has indicated that she needs to lose more than I do, which may account for her faster loss in the beginning.

Another person doing SB with us has only about 30 pounds to lose, and thus far has lost about 40% of that amount. His ph 1 loss was about 8 pounds.

Hope this helps.

Welcome Back to the Beach!

Deb is correct, you can exoect to lose 10% of your total loss during phase I.

Successful maintenance is hard but it is not impossible. One thing that I can tell you is that there is no going back to the way we used to eat once the weight is gone. This is the way we will eat for the rest of our lives...or we will see gain!! I'm almost at 3 yrs of maintenace now and am vigilant about my food each and every day....its really the only way!! :)

I weigh daily, walk daily, exercise as much as I can and still eat according to the plan that I created as I was losing my weight.
