Hello! I am ready to start this diet once and for all. I have been trying to decide between the Atkins and South Beach. They are pretty much the same but at the same time different. What I like most about South Beach is that it allows certain fruits and I like fruit. Any suggestions as how to get started? I lost my book and I only have a little hand guide book. Thank you.

Hi and welcome!
Sorry that you lost your book...can you get to a library to borrow it? It does helpp to have read it when you begin.
In the mean time, the official "Food Lists" and "Meal Plan Charts" are located on the first page of my journal. Just click on my journal button and go back to the first page to print up all the info. It was these lists and charts that taught me how to eat this way. :agree:
Good Luck!!

Questions--how do I start to journal and how do I get the weight loss ticker tape and things like that.
Judynyc--you have done an awesome job. I was reading your blog. I want to be able to private e-mail you with questions but I was blocked.
Is there anyone on here that is from Indiana? How about NW Indiana? I was just wondering.
Have a Safe and Happy 4th of July.

1-You start a journal by going to the journal section and start a "new thread".
2-Tickers come from another site and you need to do that on your own. After you go to tickerfactory.com and follow their directions, you bring the url here and use the "edit signature" button in your USER CP to put it there.
3- Private messages can be done after you post 25 times. not before, sorry!
Ask me questions here or in my journal. My friend skippie is from Indiana, you can find her in my journal and you can talk to her in her journal.
Hope this helps!

Well good morning to everyone! Today is a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and humidity to go with it. I have a wonderful weekend with just my hubby. Our son went to his cousin's for a few days and now he is home which is wonderful.
Judy thank you for answering my question. I guess I need to be on daily.
Have a great Monday.

Well good day to all:
Judy you are such an inspiration to me and I truly thank you for being the head of this thread.
Welcome Roadman.
I can not wait to read any advice anyone has to offer so this program and any recipes. I am trying to use some of the recipes with my family but with me on Phase 1 it's a little difficult.
Judy-- where can I find good recipes for this lifestyle change?
I am married and we have one son who is 8.

There are many recipes in the SBD books themselves. There is also a recipe thread right below this thread. heres a link:

I've found that I can take most recipes and make them SBD friendly.

Thank you Judy--still trying to get use to site and I still have no book so I am learning a lot here. Like I said I have a pocket one that tells food and that's about it.
I thought someone could use this no hurt intended:
What's in a name?
The famous Olympic skier Picabo Street (pronounced Pee-Ka-Boo) is not just an athlete ... she is now a nurse currently working at an Intensive Care Unit of a large metropolitan hospital. She is not permitted to answer the hospital telephones any longer. It caused too much confusion when she would answer the phone and say, Picabo, I.C.U.
A good clean joke is hard to find these days -- pass it on!
(Admit it ... you're smiling).

I went to the library today and read over a lot of the book. Found new things that I forgot about. It's amazing what happens when you re-read things and notice things you forgot the first time.

Yes, this is very true!
Have you found the food lists and meal plan charts on the first page of my journal? Please print them all up as they will help you to learn to eat this way. :agree:
Please feel free to chat to all of us in the South Beach Babes thread or any of the other threads here...also , you can start your own thread and your own journal.
We do not want to post to this thread too much. :)
