hi all
im currently writing a low carb cookbook in danish ( since we dont have any) and i really want it to be a general lowcarb cookbook and not just an Atkins cookbook ( the plan im doing). so i try to suggest modifications to all my recipies so it can be tweaked to fit whatever lowcarb plan you are on. i have been reading the SB book but it was a long time ago and i dont own it anymore so i have some questions for all of you who are really into the way of this WOE.
is it correct that you can eat the fat you want as long as its oil based. ex. mayo, veggie oil etc?
what kind of guidelines is there on dairy? should it be the lowfat kind or what about cream and sourcream and stuff like that?
i think this was about it..
thanks in advance:wave:

Hi Mylle!

On our food lists, we have a category of acceptable fats. You can find them on the first page of my journal along with our meal plan charts that show us how to include these good fats into our meals. I've never heard it referred to as "oil" based as we also eat, as a fat, avocados and olives. Feel free to print off the food lists and charts so that you can see what I mean. This info comes from the "SBD" web site.
Also, we can't eat fats at will as they are very portion controlled due to their calorie density....same with nuts and seeds.

We use low fat versions of all dairy as recommended on the food lists. 2 cups a day in phase I, can be an assortment of foods from the list. 2-3 cups in phase II and III.
Hope this helps!
ps- you look very beautiful in your new avatar!!

hi there judy
thanks so much for the compliment  lowcarb sure is wonderfull..
about the fat sources i meant that your fat should come from oil based sources ( veggies) and not animal sources ( butter, highfat dairy, animal fat on meats etc) i think we understood eachother right and maybe it is just my english skills that i need to work on ;)
it was a really helpfull answer and i think it will be doable to tweak most of my recipies to fit both atkins and southbeach... and if im not mistaking, recipies that could fit both of these plans would work with most lowcarb plans...
thanks for the quick reply
