I ate pizza three days running back on May 4, 5, and 6 (I keep BP and pulse records). My BP had been running 107/60 and pulse 68 or so for about two months following starting eating LC again and I was on no medications (I had stopped lisinopril 20 mg QD two months earlier).
The result, and a huge life lesson for me, and perhaps by telling it for others:
My BP and pulse shot way up, I developed gout in the side of my right foot (I have had this before), huge swelling in my legs and problems sleeping. I had to go back on the lisinopril. My pressure was running 160/90 and my resting pulse, for a period of about four days was 120 which is exhausting. I had light thumping heart beats and chest pressure when this was happening, but because I have been admitted about six times before with these symtoms and nothing was found I weathered them, trusting my eating right to get me through it. I have no insurance and little money. Were it to get really bad, I would have had to go to the ER.
Three weeks later after the binge, now eating right, after reinitiating the lisinopril, taking lots of over-the-counter potassium and magnesium, my pressure today is perhaps too low (I will discontinue the lisinopril today) at 93/50 with a pulse of 68. I finally feel well.
If anyone believes that low carb diets do not work refer them to me. AND I lost another 6 pounds!
