I found a site southbeachdiet.com which offers to help people with the Southbeach diet. I was wondering if anyone has tried joining this site and found it to be worth the money. What about the ediets site for southbeach?

What attracts me to these sites are the menu planning and shopping list features. I'm on a limited budget so going to the store with a plan and specific list would really help me to keep costs and food waste down. Also as a single parent who works full time having a menu planned ahead and prep work done in advance could make cooking much easier.

Right now I tend to start looking at ideas for meals when I get off work, basically when the kids and I need to be eating, not just starting to plan. Convenience food grabbed on the fly has been a huge downfall for me and has contributed to gaining weight back.

Following the sample menus in the book can be a start, but is very limiting and there are some meals that the ingredients just aren't available here. I also have the South Beach Cookbook which has many more recipes separated by phases.

I've been a member there for 4 yrs and am lucky that I am still able to pay the lower rate. IMO, $20- per month is a lot of money but if you do it for a couple of months, you should have enough recipes and plans by then to keep you going for quite a while. However, I don't use their meal plans or recipes much.

I do a lot of pre-cooking so my freezer always has quick easy meals ready to nuke. I generally do this cooking on the weekends. I also keep fresh frozen veggies on hand when I can't get to the store for fresh veggies. I also like to make soups to keep frozen.

I read some online reviews of the two and in the end decided to give ediets a chance. This is just to get me accustomed to what the meals should look like, and then I can plan my own menus faster and easier.

While ediets doesn't have southbeach, it does offer the glycemic impact diet which has much in common with phase 2 of southbeach.

They are basically the same price per month. ediets offers a fitness plan that southbeach online doesn't seem to. One offered 7 day trial free, while the other stated if you hadn't reached your goal in 6 months the next 6 months membership was free. Other then that most of the features are similar.

Having had some experience with eDiets I'll share a warning. They almost made it impossible for me to cancel my membership and took 5 months to refund the money they charged me after they didn't acknowledge my cancellation.

I have nothing against them, just my experience.
