I recently started taking these since I'm having some female problems and my mood swings are HORRIBLE. Anyone else had luck with these? I've heard good and bad about St Johns Wort but I think the Black Cohosh is actually helping some. Just curious if anyone else takes these or has taken them.

I haven't taken Black Cohosh, but I have St. John's Wort. Supposedly it takes months for SJW to kick it, but I felt my mood lifted immediately, when I told someone they said, "Placebo". So perhaps it was but hey! I stopped taking it after that particularly emotional time was over.

I feel the SJW already too - I took Lexapro once when I had bad post-partum. It feels the same - makes you feel "off" (disassociated) somehow but my mood has definitely been more stable. I think the Black Cohosh is helping even more. Thanks for the reply. :)

Black Cohosh works like estrogen..it actually "docks" on to estrogen receptor sites on cells..it does work, but you can't stay on it forever. Your body does "get used to it"
St Johns does work for a lot of people..make sure it is the extract form with a good levle of hypericin which is the active, medicinal compound of St Johns...
5HTP works better for those who do not respond to ST Johns Wort.
Nancy is correct though..it takes a while for St Johns to "kick" in.
May I suggest you look into Vitex..Chaste Tree Berry. It does not act like a hormone for 'female" problems, but actually stimulates your body to produce more hormone..which can actually make you feel better than taking outside sources of hormone.

Thanks I may have to look into that. My hormones have gone bonkers.

I have been taking sjw for years now and I think it does help me. I recently added a b vitamin complex and think that helps a lot too. I wondered if sjw was a placebo and stopped taking it for a while and it wasnt pretty. Went back on it and have been taking it ever since. Havent tried black cohosh but I have heard it is good for hot flashes.
