I'm not sure anymore what's going on. Before AF showed up this month I started feeling bad, tested and BG was 196. Went back to LC. #'s didn't go down as predicted. I was on 500mg Metformin. Upped it to 1000mg, but have missed the last two days of that extra 500. Stopped LC two days ago because I felt bad in a different way. Tonight, feeling nauseous so I tested (dinner was carb-heavy) expecting to see near 200 again. Nope. 89. Is that indicative of reactive hypoglycemia? Could it just be the AF really messed me up this month? I do have PCOS and have seen variables at times with hormonal fluctuations, illnesses, sunburns, etc.. all manner of things, right?
I do need to go see my doc. I'm just confused and frustrated. I can't seem to find that balance - enough carbs that I don't feel like crap, not too many carbs so I still see some weight loss and lower blood sugars, etc.. And not getting predictable high or lower readings is driving me batty.
I've been diabetic for 3 years now. Had gestational over 8 years ago w/ DD. You'd think I'd have this figured out already.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If I'm interpreting AF correctly, you might have been responding to the intense insulin resistance due to monthly hormonal fluctuation. Once that is over blood sugars would improve.

But don't beat yourself up. Diabetes gives us a moving target. Every time I feel like I've got things "figured out" something changes and I have to go back to testing and modifying my regimen.

That's why we need more than 100 test strips.

OMG. I'm such a dolt. Ok - I'll try to be gentle on myself. This is my first year with chronic allergies from pollen. Last year I learned that a sunburn can mess me up for days.. So far all the events besides getting pregnant are so transient that they don't show up with higher blood sugars over time. I guess with my allergies now getting worse and lasting over several weeks combined w/ my period.. No wonder my blood sugars went up. <sigh> LOL.
I'm looking forward to putting Dr. Bernstein's plan to work and see if it helps keep things more balanced. When I do LC, I tend to eat lower amounts than Dr. B recommends, so that could explain why I feel so starved even though I eat tons of LC foods.. When I eat off plan I eat way more than good for carbs. I'm really hoping Dr. B's plan will be what I need.
So glad someone mentioned allergies to me or I'd probably still be walking around scratching my head. ;)
