I don't think the gorillas learned from humans how to use a
stick to measure the depth of the water. Orangs use tools,
chimps use tools, humans use tools: no wonder gorillas use
tools. Tool use in mammals is often correlated to durophagy &
thick enamel. Early hominids-pongids typically had thick
enamel (eg, Heliopith, Austriacopith in coastal forests) or
super-thick enamel (eg, Ouranopith, Samburupith, Nakalipith,
Chororapith, A.boisei//robustus in open wetlands), but those
in wet forests often had thinner enamel (Dryopith, Oreopith,
Ardipith...).

It's striking how the early hominids in Africa c.10-7 Ma
were large wetland-dwellers with thick enamel (gorilla-sized
or almost): Nakali-Chorora-Samburupith-Sahelanthr. It's
possible that all hominids (not only gorillas, but also
chimps, bonobos & humans) had gorilla-sized ancestors,
possibly in +-open wetlands, probably wading bipedally,
possibly with a diet overlapping that of gorillas: AHV
(aquatic herbaceous vegetation), fruits, sedges, papyrus &
perhaps bamboo, but the much thicker enamel than in gorillas
suggests also nuts & hard-shelled fruits &/or hard-helled
invertebrates, see the work of Shabel (AAPA abstracts 2007 &
2008) on durophagy in hominids.

Says the wetloon who doesn't know anymore about tools than he

Umm, no, I don't think so.....

1 Nobody lived on the savanna until the advent of jeeps and
guns. 2 Lions evolved from saber-tooth cats. 3 Apiths never
ventured more than 50/100 yds away from a tree. 4 Climate
change is not happening presently. 5 Agriculture probably
stretches back hundreds of thousand if not millions of years.
6 Genetic drift is a pseudo-scientific notion. 7 Spears are
useless against hyena and lions.
8 ..then what purpose do the stone weapons (spears, bow and
arrow) serve that show up in the fossil record starting
about 2.5 mya?
9. Then you should stop;pissing into it. 10 Speak for
yourself. I see just fine at night.
10. Uh, er. These artifacts don't come with notes attached to
them that indicate how they were actually used.
11. Why we see stasis in tool advancement up until a few
thousand years ago.
12. So Paul, now that you've, finally, come to accept the
fact that early hominids--both A'pith and HE--resided in
treed habitat

You really should. Really. Remember what happened when Clark
passed up the opportunity to make a retraction. Hell, that's
why you guys are in such a big mess now. Don't go and make it
worse. Just make the retraction.

Tell you what. Let's do this. I'll consider it retracted. You
don't have to do anything, All you have to do is just not
respond to this post. And I'll never mention it again.

I think you'll agree that this is fair.

Remember now, you just have to not respond to this post.

ask you to make the retraction.

So, how about it, Lee. Would you like to make the retraction?

Yep, I just did and what I found was, you are a liar.

"Do you really believe that spears couldn't be used for fish?"

You said that, not me. That is why you can't make a direct
quote. You made that up, you lied and you have been caught
again, by your own words.

Is that you argument, clown? A strawman is the best you have?
Anyone with an IQ of over 60 should be able to type into the
forum search box the quote I made and find the thread, the
cited data, and the people who made the statements.

Make your apology, or stick your troll where the sun

Nosepickers like yourself need to make a special effort to
look at the title of the thread and try to stay on topic. Do
you agree with Lee that spears couldn't be used for fish? Why
not? How about other creatures that can be found in or near
aquatic/littoral habitat?

Please make a special effort to address content.

The reason the is no direct quote about Lee's position from
McGin is because Lee never said any such thing. Claud is a
liar. Quote me directly you lying piece of horse shit.

Are you really as dumb as you pretend?

I don't know what you're so nervous about. It's not like you
have a real hypothesis anyway.

So now you admit that spears could be useful for fishing. And
I suspect if I were to continue to poke at you long enough
you'd also eventually admit that spears could be useful in
treed habitat also. This being the case one can only wonder
why it is you are so insistent that hominid evolution
primarily involved a long distance running/ walking lifestyle
in treeless savanna habitat. Can you explain this to us?

Okay, Mikey,. You are a witness. I offered him the retraction.
All Lee had to do was not respond. Now he's going to go
through the same thing you went through.

For the record: you can't say I didn't offer him the
opportunity to make a retraction.

What's the matter, troll, too stupid to find a direct quote?

I don't know what you're so nervous about. It's not like you
have a real hypothesis anyway.

So now you admit that spears could be useful for fishing. And
I suspect if I were to continue to poke at you long enough
you'd also eventually admit that spears could be useful in
treed habitat also. This being the case one can only wonder
why it is you are so insistent that hominid evolution
primarily involved a long distance running/ walking lifestyle
in treeless savanna habitat. Can you explain this to us?

It's not like you have a real hypothesis anyway. When do you
think you will be getting a hypothesis?

Quote brainless Claud: "Do you really believe that spears
couldn't be used for fish?"

Now, dimwit, once again, quote me directly, do not paraphase
what you think you though I said. Since you can't, thanks for
proving once again whan an asshole liar you are.

What you did or didn't say is a matter of record. It's up to
the individual reader to determine what you meant by it. But I
think the evasiveness you've shown clearly identifies you as
somebody with something to hide.

IOW, you are still a liar, you made this up, every word: Quote
brainless Claud: "Do you really believe that spears couldn't
be used for fish?"

Now, dimwit, once again, quote me directly, do not paraphase
what you think you thought I said. Since you can't, thanks for
proving once again what an asshole liar you are. Strawman
arguments are all you ever had.

Olsen,

Why don't you be honest about what is plainly obvious to
anybody reading these exchanges: you have no interest in
advancing the science your sole interest is in preserving the
status quo.

We've seen this before, Dimmy --you, offering someone "the
opportunity" to make a "retraction". Yet, I haven't seen you
clearly define just what it is you would like retracted. Is
this inability to express yourself related to your inability
to provide a URL to your "new and improved" hypothesis?
Having trouble reading for comprehension? Is there anything I
can do to help?

This is getting confusing. I'm loosing track. What exactly was
it you didn't say?

And if you didn't say it then what in the hell are you being
so defensive about.

See what I mean about the retraction. You shoulda taken it.
Then neither of us'd be going through this shit.

What it all boils down to is you really don't have anthing
resembling a hypothesis, yet you want to world to believe you
do. It's pretty much that simple.

Exactly, you were confused right from the start, mainly
because you are incapable of following a thread.

>=A0I'm loosing track.

Yep, you lost track right from your first strawman claim.

> =A0What exactly was it you didn't say?

"Is this true? Do you really believe that spears couldn't be
used for fish? Why not?"

Now, you pea-brained idiot, QUOTE where I said spears
"couldn't be used for fish."

A $1000 reward is now offered for you, or anyone else, can
find where I ever said such a thing. I quoted you saying that,
but I never did. You set up a strawman, then demanded I make a
retraction. Very typical of ilk like you.

>

Are you crazy? You make a false accusation, repeat it numerous
times and the problem is me???? See a shrink, asshole.

I remember EXACTLY what I said and I have the URL where I
said it. YOU on the otherhand do not, that is why the
pandering on your part. If you had a quote, "Then neither of
us'd be going through this shit."

You made the false claim, the burden is on you to provide the
evidence. You think all you have to do is accuse someone of
something and the burden then is theirs to prove they didn't?
How about you provide something besides your imagination to
back up your claim? The word of an idiot is simply not good
enough on sap.

Just excatly why would I make a retraction for something I
didn't say? You are insane.

> =A0Then neither of us'd be going through this shit.

No, shithead, you made the accusation, you show where I
claimed " spears couldn't be used for fish"

Come on asshole, where did I say that? It was said in your
imagination, not by me, so how can I refute a strawman? Either
you can't read or you are a liar, which is it?

What it all boils down to is you really don't have anthing
resembling a hypothesis,

What you have is a "manifesto" Su Solomon: "I did take the
trouble to read your five thousand four hundred words of your
latest manifesto. From my reading of this, I gathered that in
the intevening 11 months you have not appeared to have read
any of the comments or advice that were given to you last time
you posted an extermely similiar 'unsubstantiated idea re
evolution'. If you had taken onboard any of the advised
literature that was given at that time, then if is not evident
in this latest of postings."

Admit it Jim, what this is all about is the fact not one
person in ten years on this list is buying your manifesto and
now you are trying to get even with the group by being an
obnoxious troll.
