Hey Jen
I love the lowcarbmegastore, never had a problem with them. Some things i've ordered i wasn't keen on. Mostly i find their product info very good, its more just personal taste. You get a discount after you've ordered up to a certain amount too :)
BTW i finally added you to yahoo

I'm going to London to go shopping next week. Anyone know any shops where I could get low carb stuff that I can't get at home?

Wow, that's a hard one. There used to be so many low carb shops around, even the supermarkets stocked lots of low carb stuff and then soon as Mr A died, rumours flew around and one by one they all closed down and the supermarkets stopped selling Atkins stuff. you will obviously find the naturally low carb stuff at supermarkets, I am afraid that is the only advice I can offer, but if any other Londoners answer this post and know of a low carb shop here, I would love to know. Anyway, happy shopping and I hope you enjoy your visit. :)

Thanks, Last time I was in London there was a huge whole food supermarket in Kensington that had a lot of stuff I never saw before. I'm going to go back there, definitely. Any thing you think of would be great.

I live about a 5 min drive from Kensington High St...what was the name of the shop? Do you remember?

It was something very generic, Whole Food Market or something like that. It had a basement with lots of nuts and ingredients, and the ground floor had lots of fresh food, and stuff you could buy and eat there, and I think there was a restaurant on the first floor.
I'm also planning to visit the food hall in Harrods. Last time I was there, I got lots of interesting supplements for 2.99 each. On sale, naturally!

I think some of these online stores can be a little expensive. But I do agree that finding some of this low carb foods can be a little bit of a "needle in the haystack" job, so at least you know they will be more reliable.
I'm always dissapointed with UK supermarkets - low carb seems to be a no-go area for them.

She's talking about Whole Foods. It's huge and you can't miss it. It's right outside the station on the corner. And yes, it's still there.
ETA: I don't shop for low carb products per se. I don't know what's regularly available to you and what's not. I know my staples (outside of meat, fowl, fish, and veg) are oils, nuts, seeds, cheese, fats, spices, herbs. Even living in London, I have a "to try out list". If all your staples are easily bought where you live, do you have things you'd like to try?

Don't get me wrong, I've been eating low carb for years, and I can cook all sorts of yummy things with just what you'd buy in your local Tesco. But occasionally, you come across a great ingredient or a handy snack that you really like.
For instance, when I'm in the UK, I try to buy Go Lower nut bars. I really like them, they don't affect ketosis for me, they're handy to have if I need a snack on the run, and I can't get them here.
I like buying a little of all sorts of different things, and if they work out, I can usually get them on-line. Postage to Ireland is usually at least £12 per order so I want to be sure that what I'm buying is worth it.

I wasn't being critical. :D I just didn't know what you had in mind for suggestions. If you are going to Whole Foods I'd suggest the following:
Non-peanut nutbutters. I haven't been brave enough to do the machine thing with nutbutters, but I loved jarred ones.
Coconut oil
Cheese (if you're allowed to bring this into the country). I just love Whole Foods cheese room.
Clotted cream
Almond milk. Have you tried to make your own shakes with this?
Stevia if it's hard for you to get/if you like it

Stevia and the butters I will definitely get. Cream I can get here, usually organic. Cheese as well, but if there's a really nice one, I'll get it (and try not to eat it before I get it home!)
I'd also love to get some ingredients like sugar-free syrups.

Sorry, I did not post sooner, my head is all over the place at the moment. Anyway, I hope this reaches you in time it's called The Barkers Building (http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/UK/kensington/index.html) The Whole Foods Market is there.

Ok, I'm back. I bought several Go Lower bars, some organic coconut chips, various kinds of gourmet chocolate (don't waste your time on Choxi, it's very boring). I was tempted by the nut butters, but thought I might not get them through security with the new liquid regulations.
I also went to Fortnum & Masons and got lots of different small bottles of flavouring. The ones I can't wait to try out are Orange oil, lime oil and lemon oil. Also orange, vanilla, ginger and chocolate extract. In Selfridges, I got some different types of biltong and beef jerky and some spiced soy nuts and chili seeds.
I tried Harrods, but the price of things there was scary. One single chocolate was £1, and cup of black coffee was £3.50.

Did you find the Go Lower bars? Where do you find them other than online? At Boots?
My husband needs to stop losing weight, and he doesn't want to eat more fruits and veg than he already is, so we are considering frankenfood to stall him.

I bought a load of them in the Whole Food Market. You can also buy them direct from Go lower (www.golower.co.uk) but the postage to Ireland is steep enough that I prefer not to do that.
As frankenfoods go, this is one of the best, not too sweet (esp coconut flavour) and doesn't affect ketosis for me. Do NOT go for the creme bars, sickly sweet and nasty.
