What is the best kind to get/or is everyone using.
Anybody using Nutrude(?) something to this effect. It is pretty natural and no carbs I believe.
Thanks.

I use Optimum Nutrition. 3 Gm of carbs but it mixes great, you can cook with it, and its tasty. I buy it 10 lb at a time.

Ditto Leaddog66 on the Champion Nutrition. This is the one I have and have been using for a long time because the container is so big. But I liked the ingredients and the numbers plus the taste is suprisingly good! http://www26.netrition.com/champion_whey_stack_page.html

Alot of people use them for meal replacements and usually in the morning for breakfast from reading around. I believe these are good when one is on the run.
People also bake with the protein powder like adding them to pancakes, waffles of course all low carb.
I myself have not tried any protein powder and if possible like to stick to natural foods if possible.

I use Cytosport Whey generally. It has 1g/carb I believe and 18g protein. I have been mixing it with some leftover medifast equivalent that I have that has 7g/carb and 14g protein in order to get my numbers right.

I order a custom blend of fast-acting and long-lasting proteins from The Protein Factory (http://proteinfactory.com). The web site is good, and you can get expert advice quickly by calling. Calling also allows you to fine tune your blend (with flavorings and sweeteners of your choice and amount).
I use the powder in a variation (http://www.majicom.com/nr/recipes/paleopunch.pdf) of Eades' Paleolithic Punch.

I really like the Optimum Nutrition Whey, too. I've also been really happy with what I've bought from All the Whey dot com. I generally buy vanilla. In an earlier life I mixed it with OJ or milk. Now I use Hoods low carb milk, or coffee, or sometimes some diet soda. I don't know what kind folks use for baking, though. or for breading chicken. I can't imagine vanilla chicken. I could be wrong though! :agree:
Oh, I'll also mix in a big ole spoon of raw cocoa, or peanut butter, or a raw egg or two sometimes. Trust me, if you run it through a blender you CANNOT taste or feel the raw egg. Rocky I'm not!

I love this whey: Sweetened with stevia, 25 gm protein per scoop, 1 gm carb, and 110 calories. No fat, so you get to add your own good fat. I use coconut milk to mix it and add, sometimes, more coconut oil. I always buy the vanilla and then add raw cocoa powder or some DaVinci syrup, but rarely.
I sent some sample packets to two friends of mine back in California, and they both liked the flavor called DreamSickle (sp). Good luck in finding the one best for you.

I make my own shakes out of berries, whole eggs/egg whites, coconut milk, water and lemon flavored cod liver oil. Most commercial shake mixes have either whey or soy - both of which I am allergic to - so I mix up my own - quick and easy. Have them every morning for breakfast. 3 whole eggs + 3 egg whites gives me my per meal protein requirement.

Old thread, but...
Can't do dairy or soy, so I ended up picking up the Jay Robb egg protein powder in vanilla. Really liked it, especially since the only sweeteners in it were stevia and xylitol. Made a shake with 1 scoop powder, 1/2c coconut milk, 1 cup strawberries and about 6oz water. Was really tasty.
Substituted sliced peaches (frozen, unsweetened) once because the bag listed the same calories/carbs as the strawberries. About an hour later I was exhausted, starving, bloated and ready to nap. Guess no more peaches for me!
Think I'm going back to berries, but cut the number down a bit. Either way, the egg protein is fantastic... and the list of amino acids in this stuff is impressive.
