I checked and it seems this article hasn't been posted yet, so:

Five Reasons You're Still Fat (http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Fitness/Story?id=4649098&page=1)

The article advises cutting back on carbs and not eating "low fat" stuff.

It also encourages weightlifting. This is of interest to me because when I first was lifting weights as a teenager, the prevailing opinion was that lifting weights didn't burn fat and everybody should do aerobics instead. Bodybuilders knew better, and now science has finally caught up with them. Part of the reason for the confusion is that most of the scientific research is about aerobic exercise. You can put a rat on a treadmill, but no one's figured out a way to compel rats to pump iron.

I don't eat breakfast and I'm not fat. I hate seeing this kind of advice: eat breakfast! Maybe the reason people who skip breakfast and get fat is because they are HUNGRY on a high carb diet. By the time they do eat, they overeat, and all those extra carbs/cals get stored as fat.

But overall it's a decent article, especially coming from a mainstream news site like abc. You don't see this type of article 5 years ago.

Personally, I can't do without breakfast, though I wonder if that'll change after I've been on low carb for a while (I've just started). I think that's something that varies from person to person, so they shouldn't tell everyone to do it. If not eating breakfast works for you, good for you!

I am so happy to see some positive press on the low carb slant on healthy weight loss and weight-lifting, too. I am sending this link to some of my friends who are concerned about my radical take on eating. Not that there is much "weight" to the opinion of the media in my book (I tune them out on purpose) I do know my loved ones who are so concerned will find a printed opinion more appealing than anything I could say or they could research themselves, if they only would.

I think that it is a FANTASTIC article. ESPECIALLY because it is from a mainstream media company like ABC news. Sure, it may not take people far enough down the LC path, but it does point people in the correct direction. This article can actually HELP people.

Also, it comes from Men's Health magazine, which is almost entirely pro-low-carb. I buy that magazine now and just the LC tips and recipes that come around once in a while make it worthwhile.

Also, it comes from Men's Health magazine, which is almost entirely pro-low-carb.I bet that Men's Health carries more ads for protein powders than they do 100-calorie Oreo packs. I don't expect women's magazines to change their tune, despite the overwhelming evidence; the carb industry carries a lot of advertising clout.

I think I'll start reading Men's Health! Hey, what's sauce for the gander is (usually) sauce for the goose.

Adam Campbell has written several articles on the virtues of low carb, including one about diabetes.

Yeah, Men's Health is a really good magazine. My best friend who's really into weight lifting & fitness buys it & I've taken a peek at it. They are pro-LC & have all sorts of articles & tips.

You don't have to read the guy's magazine. Get Women's Health. :)

I have Women's Health subscription. They give terrible dietary advice. It's all about low-fat low-cals exercise more to lose weight junk. I do not plan to renew.

I would agree about Women's health. Low fat, low cal. Yadda yadda! I think I need to switch to Men's health too.
