Well I was digging through some old boxes, found some Gelatin that says "0 carbs, sugar free", and indeed it is.. but a its sweetened with aspartame and another sweetener I never heard of called ACESULFAME POTASSIUM.
Now my question is, does Aspartame (or that other sweetener) affect weight loss in the induction phase? I know it's suppose to be unhealthy for me, but will it kick me out of Ketosis?

Some find that it stalls them others it doesn't. Try and see how it works for you.

Dr A hopes we use splenda, but I would use that up before I bought any more

How old is that box of gelatin and what's the expiration date on it? It might be too old to safely consume even if the ingredients would have been acceptable when it was new.

Hmm thats a good point. I'll have to check.
I'd just to like say, I've eaten some already, and it gave me a headache.
Today, I tried another product with aspartame, got a headache again.
Anyone else getting headaches after taking aspartame?
Might just be a coincidence/bad timing.

Aspartame gives me headaches. I haven't touched it for years.

I'm prone to migranes and I'm hesitant to even try aspartame. It's entirely possible that it doesn't affect me personally, but I don't really feel like testing that out! It's not like aspartame naturally present in natural whole foods that provide other nutrients- I'm not losing out on any nutrition by avoiding it.
I mostly use stevia for sweetening, or I use incredibly tiny amounts of other natural sweeteners (say, 2-3 chocolate chips, or a 1/4 teaspoon of honey in a cup of tea.) I do use sacharine occasionally though- in spite of it's bad press, it's actually got the best health record of all the synthetic sweeteners currently available in the USA.

I, too, would be very careful of the gelatin sweetened with aspartame because of it's age. At room temperature, and also at body temperature, aspartame breaks down into its components (among which are wood alcohol and formaldehyde.) It is not heat stable like sucralose (Splenda) and some other artificial sweeteners are, which is why you can't cook and bake with it.
The acesulfame potassium is okay, IMO. It's sold under the brand name Sweet One. I use it occasionally in combination with other sweeteners. Like Splenda, it is heat stable.
