I take a multi, calcium, magnesium, No Salt, VitD, Omega 3's, Vit C
I am also on Zoloft and I am wondering about B supplements
Does anyone have a recommendation regarding B-supps for depression?
I am more irritable than depressed actually.
I try to eat right and exercise. I drink plent of water and get good sleep.
Any suggestions?
TIA,
Julie

A b-complex is essential especially for those who low carb,..b's are crucial in carbohydrate and fat metabolism..that's why they are known as the energy vitamins..plus B-5, Pantothenic acid is great for "supporting the adrenals" during times of stress which can lead to low energy and fatigue..plus it can help with good cholesterol health.
B-3 Niacin unequivocally lowers LDL Oxidation and total cholesterol numbers..and it can improve memory test scores by 42% if the dose is high enough. Abram Hoffer a world reknown pyschiatrist uses high dose niacin to sucessfully treat schizophrenzia.
They are catalysts and cofactors for other nutrients and help improve memory and improve cardiovascular health ..lack of b-6, folic acid and b-12 can lead to high homocysteine levels which greatly increase ones chance of heart attack.
So you can take a good b-complex..100 mgs of each or buy a multi(a good quality one) that has high levels of each b.
Don't expect results right away, but you can tell a difference in a short time.

B vits are normally water soluable, so you can take them on an empty stomach, with a glass of water, between meals, before meals & with protein drinks for optimal absorption. Taking them early in the day is a good idea, so you can benefit from increased energy levels, they may keep you awake at night otherwise.
