I am on my second week of Induction and physically I feel awesome!, but emotionally I am having second thoughts...wondering if I could really adapt to this way of life...my biggest weakness is BREAD :yum: :help: I LOVE anything with bread!..I have lost up to date 8 pds(I am sure water weight) but today I have been second guessing myself about the diet.

My mom and sister in law are telling me they are proud but to be careful because I can gain back twice as much if I don't fall through with it...I am also on the time of the month and maybe that has something to do with it....sooooo confused.(I have NOT cheated)

Just wanting to vent or looking for reasons why to continue.

My opinion...

First... you say you feel great! That is important.

You also its that TMO. I don't know about you but it makes me feel like crap too!

About gaining two fold. Atkins is a way of like. Of course you will gain if you go back to eating all the breads, processed foods and pastas. This way of eating is not good for anyone.

I look at this WOE as the way I am suppose to eat. I look at the choices that I do have. There are tons of choices when it comes to lc'ing.

I also look at myself losing weight. If I stop I will gain. I don't want that. I want to look good and be healthy.

Its really up to you whether you continue. I personally think this is great way to lose weight. I have so many choices and am feeling great. My self esteem is getting better. There are off days... but I bet you would probably feel worse if you went to your old ways of eating!

Good luck to you! :)

BTW: Have you tried oopsie rolls?

Yes they are. They have cream cheese in them so you just need to add them into cheese intake.

Here is the recipe:

CLEOCHATRA'S BEST EVER REVOL-OOPSIE ROLLS

3 large eggs
1 packet of Splenda
A dash of salt
A pinch of cream of tartar
3 ounces cream cheese (not Tbsp!) Do not soften!

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Separate the eggs and add Splenda, salt, and cream cheese to the yolks. Use a mixer to combine the ingredients together. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff (if you're using the same mixer, mix the whites first and then the yolk mixture).

Using a spatula, gradually fold the egg yolk mixture into the white mixture, being careful not to break down the whites. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and spoon the mixture onto the sheet, making 6 mounds. Flatten each mound slightly.

Bake for about 30 minutes (You want them slightly softer, not crumbly). Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes, and then remove to a rack and allow them to cool.

Storage and freezing:

I store them in a Ziplock bag with the bag open partially (this way they breathe and don't get too moist) and keep them in the fridge after the first day. Then, when you want to use them, take them out and set them on the counter for 15-30 minutes or until they are room temperature. This makes them more "dry" and less sticky.

As for freezing, I tried freezing and they do freeze. This time you want to close the Ziplock when storing (I only store two per bag). To thaw, let them rest on the counter until room temperature in the bag with the bag open. When they're close to room temperature, set them outside of the bag so that they can "dry" out slightly for use.

Makes 6 "Oopsie Rolls"
Calories 85 each
Carbs Less than 1g each (WOWee!!!)

Mine didn't turn out the first time I made them. When you fold mixtures together don't fold too much. You want them to stay fluffy. They are delicious though. I put bacon and eggs on them and made a tuna sandwich. I was able to slice them and I only use one. Some use two rolls.

Cleochatra has WONDERUL recipes. She makes cauliflower crust for pizzas, bread sticks etc. Check her out!

What is it exactly that you're having second thoughts about?

You're doing great so far, you feel awesome and have lost 8lbs. By the time you hit your goal weight you're likely to have introduced loads of new foods to your diet and will feel fantastic about yourself!

Bikini shopping or a summer holiday is what keeps me going!

Just wanting to vent or looking for reasons why to continue. It's important that you understand that Induction is not the whole story of Atkins. Once you finish Induction, you can start adding higher carb foods back into your diet. The first week after Induction, you can add more of the Induction level veggies. The second week, you can add soft cheeses, such as cottage cheese and Mascarpone, as well as more aged cheeses. The third week you can add seeds and nuts, and in the fourth week, you can add lc fruit, such as berries and cantaloupe. You continue like that, adding a new food group, until you stop losing. If you're very active and get a lot of exercise, you might be able to progress all the way up to the 9th rung of the Carb Ladder, which is where you can add back some grains.

Your relatives are correct that you will regain your weight if you return to your old way of eating, but that's true no matter how you change your diet. Even if you lost weight on a low calorie or low fat plan, you would regain it if you again began to eat the way you did before you lost weight.

The decision is yours. Would you prefer to be slim, feel good, have a lot of energy, and avoid heart disease and Type 2 diabetes? Or would you prefer to eat bread, pasta and other high glycemic foods? :)

my biggest weakness is BREAD I LOVE anything with bread!

I would have said the same thing once. I still can't believe how things have changed for me. You can do it, you will find your taste buds change and you will adapt! I think my body has some sort of addiction to wheat, if I have just 1 slice , I start craving it again. It's easier to have none, than just some.

I have to agree.....bread was one of my downfalls but I've come to realize it was only a downfall for me mostly because of the convenience of it. It was so easy to slap a couple pieces of deli meat on 2 slices of bread and you're good to go. Now I just eat the meat with a little mayo, salt, pepper (depending on what it is), and a s/f pickle slice or something instead.

It does get easier with time and I still do have bread on occassion but I won't eat you typical white bread. In fact, I still have a loaf of W/W carb-style bread in the freezer for the past 6 months which I haven't touched. So.....you see.....it does get easier.

Think of it this way. Would you rather be overweight and miserable or would you rather be thin, healthier, and happier? I'd chose the latter over a slice of bread anyday..... .

Thank you guys soooo much for all your support!!! I lost another pound! So that makes 9 up to date. Today I had a meeting to go to and they served us breakfast ...well on my plate was bacon, egg, sausage, potatoes. In front of me were every type of muffin and danish you could think of and to top it off ONLY orange juice?!?!?!?! What did I do...I asked for water..and ate my eggs, bacon, sausage and it didn't even hurt to turn down the bread(at least for today)!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!!

I am feeling the same way. I actually fell completely off the wagon this week and went back to my old calorie counting ways. I'm not indulging in anything-just regular food. I have even avoided candy and cake-fest opportunities. I just feel nervous about making the commitment. I have no real reason other than I suppose everything else has failed-why should this work. BUT-I am going to start again and do it. Only by making it a day by day thing. That way I don't feel overwhelmed.

My mom and sister in law are telling me they are proud but to be careful because I can gain back twice as much if I don't fall through with it.

Scare-mongering. I hate that.

Well, yes, if you return to the eating habits that made you overweight in the first place, yes, you will regain weight. Why and how that has anything to do with the type of diet you choose to lose the weight with in the first place, I have no idea.

Psstt.... Weight Watchers will make you fat again if you don't follow through with it. Pass it on!

congrats on turning down the danishes and asking for water instead of oj!

for me, i get scared of letting myself down and the potential feelings of guilt and shame if i "fail" on atkins again...so it helps to focus on how good my body feels and to take it a day at a time. you can do this! also, because this is so much more than a crash diet, there are going to be times when i will eat chinese food or birthday cake...but i will get right back on the wagon. that mindset has taken me a long ways - and maybe it will be helpful for you too :) best of luck in whatever you decide to do!
