The purpose of this thread is to try and create a comprehensive list of all the natural foods and supplements that have been claimed to reduce and/or control Blood Glucose levels in Diabetics. All posters are welcomed to add to this list, but I ask posters to refrain from posting comments such as; “I tried this, but it didn’t work for me”. I think it is suffice to just say once; “not everything or even anything on this list will necessarily work for anyone individual”. Also, it should be suffice to say just once, that this list is not intended to circumvent anyone seeking and following proper medical advice. This list might also contain posts that have erroneous information. For the sake of this thread only; the term “natural”, means foods and supplements that are provided by nature and not created by artificial means or have any man-made additives of any kind. To understand how and why any of the foods or supplements listed is considered to help is the responsibility of each reader to research and draw their own conclusions.

The following is a list of foods and supplements that are considered “natural” to help reduce and/or control Blood Glucose:

Why not post this in format of a poll, and have us vote yes and no? Anything that got over 50% yes is something I would try.

I'd also like to see this done. Can polls be done here, I can't remember ever seeing one.

I think a poll is meaningless. 10% to 20% of Americans have diabetes, about 100 or so diabetics visit these pages. Not to scientific, considering it could be biased pro or con, when the answers would be counted...

I think each diabetic should try to use natural foods and supplements in various combinations and experiment and report their results and let everyone draw their own conclusions.

I do believe I have more confidence in all of the things in the list than any one chemical medication.

By the way, Metformin has its origin based on a combination of an herb or two or three, don't remember which ones... It is the only diabetic medication that comes from an herbal origin from what I read about it, but don't quote me....

Regarding supplements to aid diabetes, bitter melon and cinnamon
tea helped me a bit.I continue to take chromium picolinate and
alpha lipoic acid-not sure if they help.Gymnema, fenugreek and
cinnamon pills,for me,were useless.
Natrol carb intercept pills seem to help keep postprandial glucose levels lower. I take a rather complete regimen of vitamins for general health reasons-extra large values 0f B,C,D,E and selenium.

To Eddie: When trying bitter melon, cinnamon, chromium, ALA, Gymnema, Fenugreek, did you adjust the amounts and see different results? Too much or too little of any natural product is tentamount to not taking it all, as far as results go... For example; Gymnema twice daily never brought about desired control results, but three times daily in combination with my Berberine gives excellent results, and berberine without any other herbs did give me control, but not as much as I desired, but increasing it also to three times daily helped. Also, even after finding levels that work, I notice that there are times when I need to skip or reduce as the testing indicates a one or two time dose adjustment.
