Does anyone take Cinnamon Bark/Cinnamon to lower blood glucose? Does it work?
Presumably its safe to take if you are medication free?

Cinnamon didn't work at all for me-I took three 500 mg cinnamon
bark pills a day for about 6 months. It causes stomach problems
for some people-not me.Two cups of cinnamon tea a day seemed to improve my FBG a bit-I did the tea thing for 2 months.Probably worth a try.

Check your cinnamon.
The study which first reported that cinnamon reduces blood sugar used true cinnamon (cinnamonum verum from Ceylon) whereas in MOST stores what you see labeled as cinnamon is really cinnamonum cassia (it's cheaper :nono: ) usually from Indonesia. While cassia has similar blood-sugar reducing compounds to true cinnamon, it also contains much higher amounts of a toxic component called coumarin - sound familiar? European health authorities have recently cautioned against consuming too much of cinnamon cassia as it can react with the blood-thinning drug Coumadin. :help:
Moral of da story? ALWAYS READ THE LABEL (and look for cinnamon from Ceylon) ! ;)

Cinnulin is marketed as the ultimate cinnamon for diabetes-
studies etc. are quoted on various websites. That one doesn't
work for me either.Since I don't use blood thinner,I will not consider
the Ceylonese version either. We all know the basic diabetes truth that
what works for Joe doesn't sometimes work for Jill. There are various
people who claim to have had BG improvements from cinnamon.
