My LD GF doesn't have Net access so I joined this & am posting for her:

I have a very serious problem with yeast. I have had a virulent systemic overgrowth of candida
for over fifteen years. My symptoms manifest as constant migraines, headaches, tension,
irritability, anxiety, stress, weight gain/inability to lose weight, menstrual irregularities,
hypoglycemia, severe chronic indigestion, irritable bowel syndrome (especially when
eating any kind of carbs/sugars/cheese/alcohol), chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic bladder
infections, severe hair loss, polycystic ovarian syndrome, rosacea/facial flushing, and a thin
yellow vaginal discharge that is especially prevalent whencheese is eaten for some reason..
I even have thrush so bad that it's causing these awful sores all over my tongue. It looks like
I'm diseased.

Nothing I do seems to improve my situation. I have removed all sugars, cheese/dairy (as I'm
lactose intolerant), alcohol, almost all carbs, all yeast, etc. from my diet. I'm taking double the
recommended dosage of Candex and Candida Cleanse, and flushing with a solution of Oil of
Oregano, Grapefruit Seed and Pao de Arco, and even drinking it. I'm also eating a lot of raw
organic coconut oil which has lots of antifungal, antimicrobial properties. And I am having no
improvement whatsoever. I am so desperate I am even taking an oral solution of Nystatin and
an encapsulated form of Diflucan. And you can save your breath, I don't need to hear how bad
these drugs are. I know it. I hate them. That's how desperate I am. Nothing has worked for years.

I figure that if I can bombard the yeast all at once with a high amount of killing agents for the next
three months, I can then recover my system with a high amount of acidophilus to bring my body
back into balance. But I have to kill the yeast first! Has anybody ever heard of anyone having
candida this bad? Does anybody know something I'm missing? Is there something out there so
wonderful that it can help with a problem as severe as mine? I want to be wowed. I really need
a miracle here folks, this problem is destroying my whole life. As it is, I'm spending most of it
in bed. Between the migranes and the chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia, I almost never have a good
day. I am thirty years old and this problem has destroyed fifteen years of my youth. Please
help me.

I have just been reading Dr Atkin's vita -nutrients book. He suggests a sugar free diet plus eliminating fermented food is the first step, also necessary for maintenance .
Next the most important supplements
are beneficial bacteria 1-3 tspns (the acidofolus and other types),
undecenylic acid 2-4 capsules,
caprylic acid 2-4 capsules
ergotransferrin 2-4 caps
Oil of Oregano 2-4 drops
Olive leaf extract - start with 1 capsule, build up to 3-4 caps,
vit C 1-3 grams
pantethine 600-1,200 mg
garlic 75-1500 mg
biotin 7.5-15 mg
essential oils formula 3,600-7,200 mg
mixed fibre blend 8-16 grams

Moderately important;

molybdenum 500-1500mcg
goldenseal 1-3 capsules
cat's claw extract 2-4 capsules
FOS 1/4 - 1/2 tsp
Pau d'arco 1-3 droppers
vit B6 100-200mg
echinea 3-5 tsp
vit E 400-800 IU
pyroxidal-5-phosphate 95-150mg
arginine 1,500 -4,000 mg
propolis 1/2 dropper of tincture in water
chlorella 1/2- 1 tsp
copper sebacate 2-4 mg

I know that's a huge long list! Maybe you could pick some to research and add to your current supplements?

Other than following the yeast diet and getting probiotics into your system I just don't know of anything. I've been suffering for 10 years now and I will go a while without any skin outbreaks but suffer from chronic fatigue, anxiety, depression, etc. Recently, I restarted taking apple cider vinegar and ate nuts and had a bad skin outbreak under my breasts.... I'm just gettiing rid of it. IMHO once yeast gets into your body it is difficult to get rid of it even with meds, because it comes back after you stop the meds. Personally, I'm getting ready to start the Fat Flush Plan which incorporates sugarless cranberry juice and hot lemon juice in water in the am. to flush your liver.... I did a little of this about a month ago and felt better so get the book and give it a try...

I was recently diagnosed with a Candida overgrowth myself - also systemic invasion and causing many of the same symptoms your GF has, including having PCOS! My counselor also battled this and she recommended getting a colonic to clean out the lower digestive tract. She said she had 2 over the last 20 years or so and the effects lasted her years. Don't know if that would help but maybe worth looking into.

Because I'm new to this forum, I had no idea where to post the rest of this so here goes:

I have been doing a lot of reading on overcoming a Candida overgrowth and I'm finding conflicting information. For instance, one site said certain fruits are okay, another said no fruits until gone, doctor said no fruits for the first 3 week then add back one a day and see reactions. It's getting very frustrating and confusing for me - especially during this die-off phase where my symptoms are worse! Has anyone else found confusion in the information out there?

I am on an anti-fungal that was prescribed by the diagnosing Naturopath at my Integrative GYN's office. I'm definitely scared taking it but I consider myself to be pretty healthy. She only put me on it for a month, along with Taurine that is supposed to support the liver. She put me on probiotics and digestive enzymes at the same time - all supposed to help the process along. She recommends following the plan of eliminated foods 80%! She did say that the more strict you are the better your results but in their experience, people still have great results at 80% and have a tendency to stick with it longer. My head is going to explode!!

Also, she knows that I'm married and mentioned nothing about being able to pass this along to my husband; however I have read in 2 places now that he can get it from me. Does anyone know if that's true?? And if it is true, then aren't we just on a big wheel going round and round passing it back and forth to each other?

I would greatly appreciate any help!!!

All information about Candidiasis (especially systemic) are completely conflicting. Makes things very frustrating for us sufferers of the icky yeast.

Every person is different and the severity of the infection is also different. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you're going to have to figure out for yourself what works and what doesn't.

Unrefined coconut and grape seed oils have helped me tremendously. I recommend starting off slowly and increasing over time. It can make the die off process much more tolerable.

Just stay away from mold, fungi, sugar, carbs, and anything that has been made from sugar. It's really not as bad as it sounds. You're going to be feeling so much better (give it a couple weeks of hard work) you'll never want to go back!! You can do it! I felt the same way when I figured out what was ailing me.

As far as "giving" it to your husband and vice versa, unless his immune system is really weak, he eats absolutely horribly, or he takes a crap load of antibiotics, he should be fine. =)

No worries, you'll be fine. I hope this helps answer a few of your questions.

Be careful in your research....like i said and I'm sure you've realized, there area lot of conflicting opinions out there. We're all different and react to infections in our own ways. Only you can figure out what's going to help you.

First I just want to say that I understand your frustration. (hugs)

I think the reason there are so many variables in the different sites allowances is because there are so many variables between people. Fighting candida is not about just following someone else exclusively, but taking the time to learn what is best for our bodies. Really listen to your body and make decisions based on your tolerances/intolerances. There are basic guidelines that all of those sites agree on, so those guidelines are just our starting place then we must figure out what works for our specific situation.

With that said we know that they all agree we should eliminate: grains, nuts, sugar, coffee, tea, starches, fungus, molds, vinegars (except ACV with the mother), fruits (to some degree or another). This is our starting point. We must then begin to see what will work for our individual circumstance. I think the best course of action is to think of battling this in stages.

Yeast likes: ANY bread, pasta, rice, cereal, fruit, sugars, starches, potatoes (these all have carbs that feed the yeast) they also love mushrooms, dairy products, vinegars (except for Braggs with the mother in it) products that contain vinegars like mustard and mayo. Nuts also have mold that feeds the yeast and compromise the immune system.

Four Steps to Overcoming Candida

* Step 1 – Eliminate foods that feed candida.
* Step 2 – Build up your immune system.
* Step 3 – Kill off candida overgrowth.
* Step 4 – Plant good bacteria in the digestive tract

Now you may have to actually back off of the protocol some in order to lessen your die off symptoms. Don't let that discourage you! I had to do it for a while, and now I am doing great. I think you may be hitting it too hard at first. I know I did. I am now doing all steps at once and doing well.

Remember: YMMV on many things please take it slowly and listen to your body to figure out what works for YOU!

What I like about Bee's website is that she is not standing to gain anything financially from her website and that she understands that Candida is not always cured easily in 2 easy weeks with such-and-such a treatment. Reading her articles gives a lot of information.

Also, why do some sites recommend grains and fruits of all things!! Bee has a more realistic approach. Anything that turns to sugar will feed the Candida. She is trying to impart what she has learned, and for free.
