TOM is due in a week and I am so friggin HUNGRY!!!

Yesterday I felt ok with my breakfast, a bit unsatisfied after but I thought that was because I ate it in such a hurry. I wanted some food like 2 hours later but I was busy so just forgot about it. Then when lunchtime came I had my normal hunger signs, feeling a bit lightheaded. Ate and was ok. Then only a few hours later I felt like I had not eaten all day, I was so faint and HUNGRY.

So I ended up having a huge dinner with about a 10oz steak, onions, mushrooms, a small potato (measured for my carb allowance) and green beans all covered in salty butter. I was still unsatisfied so had 2oz of macadamia nuts. Still not totally right so had 2 tablespoons of whipped cream with L Glutamine powder (as recommended by Jonny Bowden to kill unreasonable hunger/cravings) and I finally felt better. I finished eating around 8.30 and by 10 I was starting to get hungry again. Then it spontaneously went away and I was fine. I had a crazy amount of cals yesterday as a result. Then this morning I again woke up STARVING. I had a good breakfast with a 2.5 egg pepper omlette and a rye crispbread but I still have this unsatisfied/hungry feeling. If there was a horse around he wouldn't be safe now :)

Anyone else suffer from this crazy hunger? Is this how pregnant women feel? What causes this?

Man, the first week before my TOM I am an eating machine. Like it doesn't stop and nothing is satisfying. If it isn't nailed down, I am eating it!

So yes, this does happen. Usually as soon as TOM hits then I don't want to eat anything. So it kinda evens itself out. I think the body prepares for that to happen, I think that is why we feel so hungry.

So I hear you on that one, it sucks, it is usually when I cheat the worst lol.

I found adding fat & protein, but no extra carbs & not worrying about calories worked best - I tended to eat less naturally after the munchies passed. Trying to eat less using white-knuckle willpower usually just increased the urge to binge. Filling up with fat & protein nipped cravings in the bud.

Red meat, chicken salad w/lots of mayo, devilled eggs, butter - whichever you prefer. High-fat cheese and unsalted nuts work if you can control them, but they have more carbs than the other choices and the sodium in cheese or deli meats is not good if you retain a lot of water during your TOM. A tablespoon or two of unsalted macadamia nutbutter works for me (but I find it impossible to limit the salted nuts so I never buy them).

Eating that potato would turn me into an eating machine.

I find the lower I keep my carbs the better my appetite control is.

OMG! I have the worst time with hunger. I usually crank up the protein - an additional egg at breakfast, a little more meat in my salad for lunches and pile on stiry-fry veggies at dinner. I keep cheese cubes, pepperoni chips (make them myself), a few hard-boiled eggs, and bacon on hand to halt cravings. I also keep almonds on hand - they really help although I'm sure why. Nut fats? I also tend to cook more with butter and olive oil during PMS/TOM. Or I make items that require cooking with butter more frequently. I do tend to make casseroles around PMS/TOM so if craving hits, I can grab something quickly and heat it up in the microwave, if needed. Cheers!
