Hello. I am just starting out here. I have lost between 15-20 pounds since the end of December and I am now losing more slowly. I have another 40 to go. Is it safe to assume I can accomplish 40 pounds by June? Anyway, I am having the usual trouble with constipation, but I got some advice to try Milk of Magnesia so I am looking for that. Any other thoughts? Also, it seems to me, from what I have read, that Atkins Advantage Shakes are ok for Induction..? Is that true? If so, how do I add them under the foods for My P.L.A.N.? I couldn't find them there. :help:

Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who stops by to read and respond. I am feeling very happy and hopeful about this plan. This site is a big part of that!

Welcome! Nice to have you here! :)

JMO, but I doubt you will be able to lose 10 lbs a month for the next 4 months. As you near your goal, you will lose more and more slowly. If you exercise regularly, doing both cardio and resistance exercise, you probably will look great in 4 months, even if you haven't lost all the weight you would like to.

Again, JMO, but I think eating more vegetables would be a better solution to your constipation problems than would be the use of milk of magnesia.

Atkins shakes and bars are known to stall many people. Since you want to lose as much as possible in a short time, I recommend that you avoid them, except, perhaps, in emergency situations.

Best of luck!

I think that eating more fat would help, too. Stay away from laxatives, except as a last resort.

The only way to know if the shakes will work for you is to try them. I used the SlimFast LC shakes about 1-2 times a week when I was losing with no problems.

Stay the course and be patient. :)

Shakes have never been a problem for me. I dont drink them alot anymore though, simply because I just dont like them much, and rather eat a meal than drink one.

But even during the begining periods where I was drinking them constantly out of desperation for an on the go brekkie, they gave me no trouble.

I hate the bars.

Dr Atkins even told us that Shakes and bars might cause us trouble and if they do, ditch them. They are made to line the pockets of the Atkins Corp but I don't think they are induction friendly Do yourself a favor and stick to the acceptable list

Try Magnesium tablets, also raw veggies help. I have been known to take 1500 miligrams of vitamin c. it works every time. Judy

I tend to agree with Elle. Plenty of good fat definitely helps with constipation.

Veggies help too. Magnesium (not MoM) is a great mineral for many things, and can be very helpful for constipation as well.

I don't eat the Atkins bars. They're just nasty. I also don't use Atkins shakes. I tried one once and didn't like it at all. I do occasionally make a whey protein shake with a couple of eggs and some heavy cream, but that's a once in a while thing. I just find I do much better with whole foods.
