I'm not sure I'm still considered a newbie, but I have a question and didn't know where else to ask it!
Does anyone else lose better if they add a few more carbs?
I know I've been a little frustrated with the slow rate of my loss over the last few weeks...I know I know...I should be happy, but back to my question.
There have been several days recently where some "cheat" carbs snuck in...some were totally not my fault and some were. But it seems like on the days I get a little too many the scale moves down...and on days when I was doing everything "right" the scale wasn't moving. (when I say a few cheat carbs I mean a little bit of tortilla and refried beans in my taco salad(not my fault), or 4 or 5 tortilla chips and one bite of refried beans, or app. 3/4's of a cookie).
1)))Is it possible that some ppl will lose better with a little more carbs than they will with less? Does anyone else experience this or is it just coincidence? It's happened like three or four times in the last week or two! So that's question number one...on to number two
2))))Has anyone heard of taking a tablespoon of vinegar a day to aid in weight loss? Has anyone tried it/Did it work?

Has anyone tried it/Did it work?I ise 4 Tbs of the Eden Organic ACV in my water mug-- it seems to help with hunger and cravings when fasting between meals so yes-- indirectly it does. Its also high in minerals potassium is one.

HI bos, you can't lose bodyfat that quickly even if you fast completely. Water weight can change many pounds per day. What you are noticing is water weight fluctuations. It is so tempting to believe that the losses in your weight that the scale is informing you of are bodyfat losses, but unless it is a downward trend of previous fourteen day averages, you will probably be kidding yourself. You can calculate your previous fourteen day average every day. But you have to wait at fourteen days to accumulate the first fortnights worth of daily weights. Then just add them all up and divide by fourteen. Each day subtract the first of the previous fourteen daily weights, add the new day's weight and divide by fourteen.
Unfortunately women also have to contend with the fact that your menstrual cycle can play havoc with both your water weight and bodyfat. So if you really want to get an accurate picture of what the scales are telling you about bodyfat change, it really should be the previous 30 days average.
You can also calculate this every day, but you have to accumulate daily weights for a month to start getting the result. If the maths are a bit confusing let me know and I will try to explain it more.

unfortunately, you're not the only one to notice this at times. a lot of people have seen where one cheat day (intentional or not) has led to a sudden drop on the scale the next day. what's really happening is just what kneebrace mentioned -- water weight. low-carbing gets the body back into fat-burning mode, and introducing carbs back in will do one of two things... shock the body into dropping a few pounds, or cause the body to jump up a few pounds.
it ends up being negative reinforcement. a perceived positive result from a negative action. people start thinking "ooh, if i cheat, i'll lose more!" that only leads to stalls and falling off the wagon, and then people get confused. they start asking "why isn't low-carb working? all i've had was a handful of chips yesterday and a couple of cookies a few days before, and that spoonful of mashed potatoes last night!" :bash:
as far as the vinegar goes, i've heard of people using it but never tried it myself.

Ok, I think, yes, some people do lose better on higher amounts of carbs. Especially if you've been eating a certain level for so long, then switch up that level, it can cause a shake up.
Some people lost very slow or practically not at all on induction, but as soon as the started moving up the ladder, they started dropping again.
However, everyone is different. Even if you are a person that would thrive on higher carb, I dont recomend you trying that experiement with 3/4 cookie, or tortillas and all that. Better to try it with whole foods, more veggie portions, or yogurt, or something other than junky foods.
