I'm on day four and loving South Beach. I've heard so much about it over the years but never thought to try it. I love how the book explains how my body reacts to different foods and how eating processed carbs is like eating sugar! I'm so glad I got the book!

Almost the end of day 4. I managed to do 40 mins of aerobics, and was so puffed over.......I am so unfit. Was going to go for a walk, but I think I'll do it tomorrow, as I don't want to over work myself. Can't wait until my next weigh in!

Day 6 on South Beach and I'm so loving it! I've found myself really enjoying my meals. I've found envisioning myself at goal is a true motivation for me, and keeps me faithful to the plan. My friends and I are planning a girls only trip to Fiji later in the year and I'm excited about being at goal by then, and not cancelling because I feel too fat! It will be my first trip without my husband and kids, and I think it's about time I do something for "ME"! Will post my updated weight this week.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Awesome! I'm loving South Beach too .... about week 5 (well, not counting Christmas when I decided to fall off the LC wagon and gained some weight back!) and I feel sooooo good, it's such a great, healthy way to eat

Mmmmm, Fiji ... with about a meter of snow all around me here (well, outside) the beach sounds fantastic! Although it does look very pretty out there, bright sunshine, light fluffy snow, like a Christmas card! Gotta go for a walk soon.

And, just think, you can go to Fiji knowing that you can still eat healthy and enjoy your food! :agree:

Tomorrow is my weigh day for South Beach and I'm looking forward to good results! Been really good and haven't deviated at all. Although I'm feeling a little bloated as it's been very humid here in New Zealand......but I don't like winter so I never complain about Summer! Getting more motivated by the day, and I've noticed that my belly doesn't sit on my lap anymore when I'm driving! :L :L :L That's always a good thing! :)

It's the weekend here in New Zealand. It's a beautiful day and I think I'll go for a good long walk. Yesterday I walked up One Tree Hill. It's a landmark here in Auckland and allot of people walk or run up for exercise. I went with my 6 year old and my 11 year old. It's always amazing to see the energy these kids have! They walked up that steep hill like they were walking on flat ground! And there I was huffing and puffing all the way to the top. But I'm glad I did it, and I felt so proud when I reached the top. I was also carrying around 2 litres of water in my back pack! My friend and I plan to do it twice a week once the kids go back to school.

I'm feeling so good, despite it being TOTM. Feel a little bloated, but I know it will pass in a few days. I'm so positive this time around, the last two years I couldn't really get myself motivated enought to do something about my weight, I'm just so happy that 2008 has already made me feel great about achieving my goals.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

My younger son, 21, was in New Zealand last year (and Fiji) and he showed me pictures of a big hill he did with his friend .... there seemed to be a huge grass area also at the same place .... wonder if it was the same area? I'll have to ask him if he knows the name.

He had a wonderful time in both places and is now back at university, he needed to take a year off to just 'chill'.

Have a good weekend and congrats on your exercise and energy!

I'm really starting to get into exercise! Yesterday I went walking twice, once by myself and in the evening I got my hubby and kids together and went again while the kids rode their bikes. I just don't want to sit around anymore doing nothing........except when I'm on this forum!

I used to be so active in my late teens early twenties. I used to exercise 6 days a week and if I could I'd do it morning and night at least twice a week. I want that motivation and determination back, and I feel that 2008 is going to give it back to me. I plan to do at least 45 mins of exercise a day!

South Beach is great, and this is day 12 and still going strong!

That's great! I'm with you, once you really start exercising regularly and make it an important part of your life everything changes.

After my surgery last year it was a struggle not being able to exercise for weeks (stomach muscles cut!) I really missed it.

I like to mix it up and do different things but mostly I jog/walk and play tennis and do weights. I'm going to take up horseback riding (we're moving to the wine country and the property has two big beauties!) and that's supposed to be great for your core. (Haven't ridden a horse in 25 years, I hope I won't look like an idiot!

I have a couple of quick ten minute routines that I can do when I'm bored or watching TV or in a hotel room. I do 50 crunches, 50 lunges, 50 squats, 50 bicycles, 50 fire hydrants. It works!

Ya, I'm quite the exercise nut again .... I too did so much in my 20's, skiing, aerobics, weights, and squash six times a week - that'll get you in shape, that game!! :agree: I weighed 110 Lb's and ate whatever I wanted to basically and never gained weight.

I have been really into it again since starting SB, and turning 50! I have joined the gym here (YWCA) which has great equipment, I have a chocolate lab, Mojo in the picture on here as a puppy, and he loves to 'get out there' which we do every day for long walks in the country, and I have an exercise ball at home, along with a great yoga tape, and dumbells and those stretchy bands .... so I'm well covered!

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment though, as iris43 pointed out when she had her surgery, I had surgery last week, day surgery but I'm not supposed to do anything "physical" for 3 weeks (had an endometrial ablation) and I'm already missing my exercise! I am going to go for short easy walks starting next week and will be sticking to my SB so hopefully that will help. I made the mistake of weighing myself yesterday and I'm up 1.5 Lb's, but I know it's from the surgery etc., so am not going to get freaked out :D The good news is everything went really well and this surgery should eliminate my monthly problems and I should be able to get into the exercise even more and not worry about having to 'opt out' for about 6 days every month! That was really getting me down  So I know it will all be worth it, just have to be patient.

The day after my surgery my mother took quite ill and I ended up taking her to emerg, was with her all night ... I ended up on the bed next to her because I still felt so wobbly myself from my surgery the day before! Murphy's Law I guess :agree:

Anyway, she is on the mend and I'm finally getting to take it easy but am looking forward to three weeks from now :) I think I will stay away from the scale for the next couple of weeks until things get back to normal, but I'm dying to update my ticker on here to show some more weight loss - it's been the same weight for the past couple of weeks now! Grrrrr. Oh well, patience, patience, patience.

Toodles,
Paula

Thanks for the support everyone.

Hope your mum is well again Paula. In regards to your previous post, it may well be the same place your son visited, if he was in Auckland that is. It is called one tree hill, but the tree got vandalised a few years back so there's only a monument up there now.

Well today was a real busy day exercise wise. I did a powerwalk/run for an hour around my neighbourhood, which is quite hilly in places, and later on went and played a bit of tennis, which I haven't done in so long and although I was rusty, I reccon I could be back in my pre tournament form quite quickly!

I'm exhaused now, and I'm ready to hop in bed, but have some things to install in this computer so I thought I'd pop by and give an update on my progress. Everything is going great! Still loving it, and loving my body......instead of hating it!

Thanks, she is much better.

I will ask if it was one tree hill .... I think he has some pics of the hill too.
